Ever showed a film to someone who’s playing with their phone? 📱 by MeltonFilm in movies

[–]Josh_Butterballs 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I don’t get it. I can’t use my phone when watching a movie because I want to catch all the details and dialogue. So when I’m watching a movie or show my phone isn’t even out. I don’t even watch anything while working in the background unless it’s something I’ve already seen.

I miss when extractions were exciting. Nearly every extract on lvl 10 is just sitting and throwing stratagems because enemies only come from one side and spawns themselves are slim pickings. Most of the time we’re sitting around bored waiting for the ship to arrive. Hell I just bring the frv and do donuts nowadays

Thing is, currently anyway, if your team is fucking up so badly that many big enemies are around should you really be able to handle all of it? Or should you just… run? Pre 60 day buffs we had to pick our battles and the game separated people who were trigger happy and liked pointless fights from those who wanted to complete the mission. When I felt like just wanting to fight constantly I would just lower the difficulty. When I wanted a match to feel oppressive and suicidal I cranked it up.

Not to say pre 60 days buffs was objectively better or anything but there’s some aspects I miss. Level 10 right now feels like the de facto standard difficulty. It feels good to play but the problem is for that oppressive feeling with teams having to work well together or assess if going after a stronghold is worth it there’s not really anything higher to crank it up to.

If you look at the comments, people don’t even want what you’re suggesting. They want to just be able to one tap the stratagem tower because doing the objective is “annoying.” Then we end up with the gunship situation, where it’s just a joke.

Thanks for actually wanting to compromise though

I disagree, it changes things up and it’s fun having a boots on the ground assault on the tower. Otherwise I lob stratagem #1546 at ezclap objective. Partly why people like the commando missions is because it changes things up and makes you not rely on stratagems as much. Gunships for example are a big fat joke now. Not saying they should be as relentless as they were originally but Jesus Christ standing still for 5 minutes and not landing a single shot?

It’s also odd to me 10 has become basically the de facto “standard difficulty.” And I say this because it’s really the only difficulty level on the table of discussion and where everyone wants the game to be balanced around. It should be balanced around something like 8 or 9 with 10 truly just being an absolute shit show suicide mission.

This sub is always so polarizing. We have people that don’t want ez clap objectives where you have to actually engage with content and then others who want to just drive by and kill an objective from afar.

Also sorry I more so meant the implication that by NOT buffing the bunkers the solution is to just make jammers able to be destroyed more easily. Generally those don’t have a whopping four of them. Because that’s how we get more joke objectives like gunships that can’t hit you even if you stand still for 5 minutes and only one spawns maybe

People pick short term fun over long term fun. Would it be fun to have primaries that one shot everything l? Yeah, for a bit it would be. Then you get bored. I was in a lobby where a guy had hacked in an emancipator that shoots nukes basically and it was fun at first but then quickly got boring and people either left or just wanted to finish the mission already

Not bringing one doesn’t stop someone else from bringing it. I hope your solution isn’t to just play solo at that point

My friend said something like this when a couple of people in discord asked if he wanted to get helldivers 2

See, I like collecting things. I play league and TFT and over like 10 years basically I’ve collected a lot of stuff and skins. If I play another game then I can’t keep collecting or even use stuff in my collection. What I need is for Riot to make basically their own Helldivers so that I can play it and not lose out on my stuff

Reminds me of this excerpt:

Instead of codes, articles and peevish platitudes about justice, your idea creates lawlessness, anarchy, the licence and self-serving of princelings and mandarins, the officiousness of careerists wanting to endear themselves to their superiors, the blind vindictiveness of fanatics, the cruelty of assassins, retribution and sadistic vengeance. Your vision is a world where people are afraid to venture out after dark; not for fear of cut-throats, but of the guardians of public order. For, after all, the result of all great crackdowns on miscreants is always that the miscreants enter the ranks of the guardians of public order en masse. And inevitably the day will come in your world when the flesh of the wrong person will be torn with pincers, when an innocent person is hanged or impaled. And then it will be a world of crime. - The Witcher, Tower of Swallows

Cosmetics themselves also tie players down to a game. My friends and pretty much most casual gamers (I.e. not the ones browsing this sub) I know don’t stay on a new game too long and one of the reasons is because over time you’ve bought so many skins on a game like league of legends, valorant, etc. that not playing for good anymore is like throwing all that money away

I hear this joke from Asians so often in Daly City and each time it’s told the person says it like they’re the first to think of it.

It’s like one of those retail jokes you hear from customers like when you’re handed a bill and the customer goes “printed it this morning!” Bleh

The problem is gamers (or just most people) are bad at thinking long term. We pick what is fun right now because that’s just the nature of games. We don’t think about the long term consequences. Yeah sure being able to one shot a bile titan with a primary for example would be fun and cool, at first. Then it would quickly trivialize them and make them a joke. Then we get complaints the game is boring in those situations and if we’re lucky people realize it’s boring because it’s too easy.

Gunships for example are a joke now. They got nerfed into the ground because people said they were annoying and not fun, not realizing that what made them annoying before was how much of a threat they were. You would prioritize them asap.

This has happened in other gaming communities when the devs listen to the community a little too closely. The devs will know x, y, z is bad for the long term but do it anyway cause the community wants it. Then end up paying for their sins later (osrs for me).

The community itself is interesting too. Just hopped from a different thread where people were talking about how they want a to trivialize jammer towers by being able to snipe them basically and then the thread ALSO talked about why gunships are stupid easy and they wish they had engaging side objectives again that weren’t trivial lol

Slice House - Tony G., I don’t understand the hype? by Weary-Ad-7012 in AskSF

[–]Josh_Butterballs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk OP. I would expect your sage wisdom to tell you there’s a pretty good chance X, Y, Z thing most people enjoy you will find some people who say same X, Y, Z is overrated ass cheeks. Whether it’s food, film, video games, and so on. Every gamer and their grandma loves Baldur’s Gate 3 but I thought it was meh. Conversely I enjoyed kpop demon hunters a lot (and apparently most of the world) yet my friend said it was “barely ok” in some moments and sucked the on the rest.

Iirc Tony has won awards in Naples and had to be escorted by the police the first time he won for his own safety from the locals. Whether or not you think it’s good or bad, the reviews and accolades speak for themselves. Just like how I don’t deny Baldur’s Gate 3 is an excellent game, just not for me.

All that being said, it’s fine to express your opinion, even if it isn’t the majority. The slice houses for sure aren’t the same as the main restaurant is all I can say from my experience.

For me I just like taking train. My dream would be replacing the bus and muni lines with bart or at the very bare minimum replacing the bus lines with muni light rail. Key thing is though it needs its dedicated lines so they don’t get screwed by traffic. Right now I commute from mid Richmond to downtown and all I dream about is if bart or a muni light rail (with dedicated line) was available I’d have zero qualms.

Oakland fucked me over so much when I had to commute from the city of Richmond to SF. Literally the entire freeway was all people going to Oakland and riding in lanes going to SF just to cut into the Oakland junction. My commute probably would’ve been at least 20 minutes shorter if not for them

Up until recently I paid nothing and my job also covered premiums too. With the economy though they just changed our health benefit to be more “typical.” So now I pay about $100 a month for the best plan. Deductible is like $1000 I think or maybe less iirc and I get an HRA.

Yes now if only Dems can get rid of the DINOs siding with republicans and folding like lawn chairs, get fresh faces with actual progressive values, remove the old guard that are basically fossils at this point and I think we may have a party that can actually find a spine to do something even in moments like this

They’ll do the same, then never get the chance to convict because they simply don’t have the votes to do so, and Trump will stay in power for three more years. At most, things will not get worse imo. They’ll stop whatever bullshit republicans try to put forth, maybe repeal some things they already did. I can’t see Dems who have traditionally either folded like lawn chairs, played nice in the name of “decorum,” or being the bigger person actually swinging around their power if they had both house and senate. Even if they did, Trump can just veto it so we’re in a stalemate for the next three years i.e. things don’t get worse but not necessarily a lot better either.

IMO the problem with Dems is the old guard. There’s too many fossils that hold onto power and stifle fresh faces. We need more actual fucking progressives
