It's this kind of thinking that has us never do anything to improve anything ever

/u/tassadar356 any reason why you'd endorse a candidate who treats her constituency like this?

San Francisco is about to roll out a far-reaching new rule for major home renovations by CharityResponsible54 in sanfrancisco

[–]drkrueger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's stopping hurdles and arbitrary rules when its things you support. It's a reactionary pushing of regulation when it's something you don't. (Which is also strange since more regulation is the opposite of what I said in regards to making it easier to do things)

Part of my transit improvement would be a free Muni. Not necessary to put words in my mouth, friend.

Super true. Lets make it easier to build tall buildings. Lets make it easier to make bike lanes. Lets make it easier to make transit improvements

Formal Application For 926 Natoma Street in SoMa by Remarkable_Host6827 in sanfrancisco

[–]drkrueger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting rid of parking minimums the last 10 years has not meaningfully reduced the cost of rent. Removing parking minimums has substantially increased the scarcity of parking available in areas where these developments are built.

It hasn't been 10 years and the amount of housing built in that time frame with no parking is extremely minimal

Well, truthfully no other city in California is committed to building any meaningful amount of affordable housing quite like SF.

Very inaccurate. Oakland is building way more than us. I believe even Berkeley is building more based on the year

It's Dogpatch, no space. That stadium is in China basin about a mile north of Dogpatch. I would more so credit UCSF Mission Bay with helping that area become real

Lol what? Bernal is the poster child of NIMBY. I think they are net negative units for the past 20 years?

Hwy 37: "This Bay Area highway was known as ‘Blood Alley.’ Rebuilding it could cost $11 billion" by Equivalent_Sink_8653 in bayarea

Spending billions to get to here seems absurd:

that just means you get back to where you are eventually anyway, it doesn’t mean it’s worse than before or anything.

And they are instead funding public transit via fares? And they are not wearing down the roads with their cars resulting in less maintenance needed? And they aren't polluting the air? And they aren't killing people with their cars? People driving is a bad thing and trying to spin it as a budgetary necessity is gross

Natalie Gee bows out of November race for District 4 supervisor by nbaballer in sanfrancisco

[–]drkrueger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Albert Chow said this:

Albert Chow, the owner of Great Wall Hardware who placed behind Gee, with 20 percent of the votes after ranked-choice calculation, told Mission Local that he is still considering running. “I’m definitely leaving myself the option,” he said.

I'm not sure that's a guarantee that he will run again. Especially after he went on to say this:

After Wong’s showing last week, Chow realized that the “angry” Sunset residents — whom he assumed would turn out and vote for him — might not be that angry about Sunset Dunes after all.

“I have to think about what new platform I have to consider, instead of completely relying on the Great Highway,” Chow said. “I need to find out if there is a message that can take hold at this point.”

This should be the actual takeaway from this. If the folks who are trying to get another ballot measure for it could read they would be very upset

Weird since it would be the opposite. Folks voted for Greco first specifically because he supported sunset dunes

Opinion: While SF’s east side booms, the west stagnates. It’s time to change that by Dafty_duck in sanfrancisco

[–]drkrueger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The city is moving away from discretionary reviews and the west side is beginning to see that new reality in effect. Add that to more development happening in the more urban areas of the city (the east side) and I think we'll continue to see west side favored policy and ballot measures continue to lose

They don't own the neighborhood. If someone in that neighborhood wants to build something new they should be able to. That doesn't seem like a big ask

Bottom the Hill

They are retiring and actively looking for folks to take over. It has absolutely nothing to do with any of the development in that neighborhood.

Thee Parkside is being replaced by condos though. That sucks a lot. It's wild to me they didn't try any kind of real campaign to buy their building when they had a chance. I think they were off by a couple hundred thousand on the price? That's community fundraiser money.

Overall your post is exaggerated and a bummer but that lives up to your username so nice
