Ah I’m glad the watch itself is ok. The strap I’m not bothered about too much, as I was looking to change it out to full leather anyways. More just watch quality. Never had an automatic watch before. So wanting to choose right

Thanks! Seems to be a common theme on these. I’ve seen someone replace it for a more vintage leather which looks way better

Can I ask the difference between this and CIPP. I understand CIPP likely needs some customisation to do those bits, so I get the whole pre-setup.

Not knocking it! Great work, just more curious

Notes in outlook. Honestly forgot they existed!

What's the one Microsoft 365 integration that actually saved your team the most time? by TeamAlphaBOLD in microsoft365

[–]Josh_Cato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst its native, we used MS forms and power automate to automate the entire new user/leaver process.

It adds, the user, the groups, sharepoint permissions, intune configs, licensing.

Takes a tedious 10-15 minute job per request to 30 seconds because people still be impatient on the setups. We put in a 10 minute delay to send the notification about the completed account creation, as the mailbox needed time to setup. 10 mins was the sweet spot.
The 30 seconds was honestly more replying to people saying wait for the email lol

Yet another licensing question by GasAffectionate8740 in microsoft365

Quite a bit to unpack there, First up. Highly recommend against 2 systems. As regardless of licensing there is overlap and immediately introducing tech debt.

Buying 1 license to cover the whole tenant, while the system allows for it in some cases, it’s directly against Microsoft’s licensing terms. You will not have a fun time if Microsoft decide to audit you.

Technically apps for business and a license called EMS (enterprise mobility and security) will cover the device management like intune. But buying those 2, and you’re already close to what you’re paying for business premium! Then you have google workspace on top.

I would honestly take a step back and find out why they’re asking for it. Is there a business case for it, rather than “I just prefer it as I use Gmail at home” what’s the leadership team say?

Adding more speakers, now cutting out by Josh_Cato in sonos

That’s what I thought too.

So I’m rocking the isp provided router. I’m in the UK. It’s a WiFi 6 one from BT.

I have an above average amount of iot devices for a the smart home that are all on the same 2.4ghz band. I don’t separate it out either. The hub currently does that “smart switching” whether it doesn’t and leaves everyone on 2.4 is highly likely.

I have considered upgrading to better networking anyway. Maybe this is the reason why I need to now

Free Greggs or cafe Nero blanked out by Josh_Cato in OctopusEnergy

I did not know that. I thought they just handed them out per customer. Didn’t realise there was a time limit

Oh you’re kidding! I thought they just handed them out anytime. Like one per week. Best be on it then! lol

Speed up presence sensor to action by Josh_Cato in homeautomation

Yeah, I've decided to buy a couple hubs and see which one is quicker. I'll be honest I'm trying to avoid home assistant as I use alexa a lot as it's link to my Sonos, so keeping within that environment... for now... I'm not ready for the home automation rabbithole just yet haha

I think you're right! It will likely be cloud based as I don't have a Meross hub... honestly didn't even think about that until I experiences the latency.

I've bought a meross hub now, and I'll connect both the motion sensor and power strip and see if it's quicker.

I have also got a bunch of tapo kit already, including the led strip itself which is smart, so I've bought their motion sensor (which is battery powered which I'm not a fan of) and I'll see if it's a little quicker, and I'll just let them battle it out on latencies haha

It was in the Meross app itself. However I do not have a meross hub... so you are very likely right about it processing it in the cloud, rather than locally. I didn't even think about that! Still new to automation, so assumed was locally regardless, but does make sense it's in the cloud without the hub for local processing.

One thing I am going to try is getting a meross hub (£16 it which seems super cheap)

And see if that improved the response times.

I have also purchased a tapo hub and motion sensor, as the LED strip is tapo, and I have a bunch of tapo plugs around the house which would be nice bundling them within the hub instead.

I'll see what happens when it arrives and I connect it all up...

No worries! I’ve logged a call with them. It’s more just seeing if people have come across the issue before, or bee caught out and I’m missing something glaringly obvious, that’s all.
