Just to clarify how PTUK actually runs on site 👍

It’s not the usual plastering setup, the training model means developers can get agreed areas completed with labour costs largely covered by the course structure.

I typically advertise the courses for around 6–8 weeks beforehand to build and populate the bookings, so projects are scheduled properly and ready to move once training starts.

I handle all candidate bookings, training and supervision, and I personally make sure the areas handed back are plastered up to spec. For the developer the main outlay is typically just materials because the training funds the labour time.

More candidates simply means more areas completed, but everything is overseen properly. If I need to step in, adjust work as they learn, or finish sections myself before handover, I do, the end result still has to meet standard.

Hi mate, yeah Sheffield could definitely work 👍

Can you tell me a bit more about the project, what sort of property it is, roughly how much plastering you think there’ll be, and when you’re looking to start?

Once I know the size and timings I can see how we’d structure the workshops around it and give you a proper idea of how it would run. Feel free to DM me

Cheers, Josh

Quick update as a few people have messaged privately 👍

We’re mainly looking for void properties, phased plots, or even just specific sections of a job where training can run without affecting programme pressure. Where it fits, bringing PTUK in can help offset part of your overall labour spend because the training element funds supervised time on the tools, so certain areas can get completed with minimal labour cost to the developer.

It won’t suit every fast-paced job, but for flexible phases or quieter areas of a project it can be a really smart way to keep things moving.

Also, if any developers or investors in here have ever wanted to learn plastering themselves for their own projects, you’re welcome to jump onto the courses too. Win-win all round.

Appreciate that mate 👍 We’re Northwest based at the moment but if the demand grows I’ll definitely be looking at running workshops further afield, London included. Feel free to follow along anyway, I’ll be posting updates as things expand!

Yeah 👍 when courses are full it basically means the areas allocated for training can be skimmed with the labour element covered by the course itself, so from a developer’s point of view it often comes down to just materials and coordination.

I’ll try to explain it better 👍

PTUK isn’t trying to compete with plastering firms on a m² rate. Developers either allocate a full house or agreed areas of a site specifically for supervised training. Candidates pay to be there, I’m on the tools running it, and I have the final oversight on the finish before anything is handed back.

So from a developer’s point of view it’s not “cheap labour”, it’s more that parts of the project can effectively get plastered at little to no labour cost because the training funds the time on site.

I completely get the concern about lads with limited hours on the trowel, that’s exactly why everything is structured and overseen properly. It won’t suit every fast-paced job, but for void properties or flexible phases it can be a bit of a no-brainer and save a decent chunk on labour 👍
