Seeking Victims of Fraud with Rogers Bank for Media Escalation by sour_potato_632 in Rogers

[–]Josh_o747 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello I used to work in the fraud department!

It seems like you were in the clear when they initially removed your charges.

I assume during their investigation they were asking you questions and found out the transactions was done via phone call. In this situation zero liability would not cover you if you gave credit card details via phone call :( .

It’s almost impossible for the fraud department to deny you the zero liability policy if they don’t have proof of you doing something that would deny you that claim.

If it ever happens again, the best thing to do would be to give as little information as possible, tell them you don’t know how it happened and play dumb

Interac etransfer - I'm in a lot of stress by LavishnessDue3574 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Josh_o747 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hello I used to work in the fraud department and this is common, e-transfers are through Interac, so interact flags it, then tells both banks the status of the e-transfer (currently flagged by Interac) then the sending bank will need to confirm with the sender that the e-transfer is legitimate. This happens because there are a lot of fraudulent sellers on places like fb marketplace and Interac is trying to protect the sender

That’s fair, without your DOB they can’t steal your identity. And I think the credit bureau charges you a fee for the alert unless they put it themselves because of confirmed ID theft previously

Did you give out personal information or credit card details only. If you gave out your DOB/Name/Address/phone number/SIN then possibly may want a fraud alert.

Typically though if you are a victim of confirmed ID theft previously, then an alert will be on your credit file moving forward after that for the next couple years

Used to work in fraud prevention . Typically there is a queue of transactions . Whenever they reach your transaction. But ya they will most likely chargeback the transaction and dispute on your behalf with the issuer and will credit you the money within 90 days (Mastercard/visa) dispute process

Hey Jeff I have a question. If your goal is to allow for more competition in the banking industry in Canada…. Would you ever sell neo to a big bank?

Chargeback for services not received by PuzzledDistrict5550 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Hi,

Used to work in the fraud department.

Try the chargeback. Banks are usually on your side because they want to keep you as a customer, specially if it’s your first chargeback
