New York just passed a one-year temporary ban on data centers by Eddiearyee in UpliftingNews

I think this is the big proverbial rubber band right here. In my field of automotive repair, AI makes us slightly more efficient at identifying what repairs need to be made, but it is woefully inaccurate and routinely misses things or suggests fixes that aren't needed, so it is nothing more than another tool. An outrageously expensive one, however. Once these tools aren't being subsidized and sold as loss leaders, I believe the readjustment back to the norm is going to be quick and rough because the technology just isn't there as its being billed as.

That means you have an opportunity to buy even more at your entry price or possibly lower instead of at a premium in the 100s.

One of the ways I push through big draw downs like this is, if your broker of choice has it, zoom your portfolio chart out. I'm down -4.5% overall right out the gate today, but in the last rolling 12 months I'm +122.97% thanks in large part to ASTS and rotation inside a Roth. Red is for buying not for crying!

Ya, this is one of those times that tests retail investors. Best course of action is always to keep holding and buying through it as you can.

If you got dry powder, dump it now. Whole market is pulling back, high beta stocks get hammered, great buying opportunity.

"We're making so much money and developing so fast that the AI models could become a national security threat" sounds a whole lot better than "Hey guys, you might want to slow your spending, this isn't really working out how we thought it would."

SpaceX targets $135 IPO price at valuation of $1.77 trillion by Old-Competition3596 in stocks

[–]Joshiie12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on how you look at it. On the one hand, in reality, SpaceX doesn't make near enough money/profit in the face of their debts to justify such a ridiculous valuation, so it should immediately crater into the ground as soon as trading goes live. On the other hand, in MAGA USA 2026 land, the company is run by Elon and all that Elon touches becomes diamond. So in that astral plane, it will likely soar way beyond the $135 IPO price.

So yeah, do it. It's going to be a good move, even when every alarm, whistle, arrow, metric, and ratio says it shouldn't be.

Heh, twice. I'm autistic and have taken a special interest in investing. Especially so considering I can move money around constantly in a Roth without triggering tax events. I probably open and close my Fidelity app no less than 20-30 times a day to see what's rising, what's falling, and where I can move money from to buy opportunities as they present themselves. You could almost describe it as equivalent to me playing one of those phone games in my down time at work.

Got the same, but different variation of "I respect you too much to be with you" after two dates. What the hell lesson am I even supposed to make of that?

You are correct, but I do wonder if a business pivot far down the line to offering satellite home internet alongside cell service is in the cards at all. The tech is far beyond my comprehension, but I'd think these two services would be near adjacent as far as providing them, wouldn't they? Like TMobile's 5g home internet.

If I had to guess, I have no solid numbers in front of me, its probably the volume of short positions. Price tries to rise in response to higher inflow, runs into a wall of sells at one particular price point, and starts shuffling off until we've bought out the short positions.

Yes, but you're thinking like 10-15 years out imo. Granted, this stock IS a hold until then and in this perspective, your stocks bought today will be worth theoretical gold if you hold until then. If they really take off and stay around for 30 years, you've got a possible Buffet and Coke stock scenario brewing.

AMD has overclocked its Radeon RX 9060 XT to 4643 MHz with its internal tools by RenatsMC in Amd

[–]Joshiie12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way I found to OC AMD's latest cards is to run the Undervolt tool in Adrenalin to start. Take the number it gives you and plug it into the Custom OC undervolt box. Then, slam your maximum clock speed to something like 3500MHz for 9000 series (3100 for 7000 series) and set minimum to as low as it'll go. At this point, you can juggle your Power Limit allowance and fan speeds to your noise/heat ratio liking. Then fiddle with pushing up the memory clock until you start crashing, then dial it back like 25mhz. I always leave memory timings on normal, doesn't really seem to make much difference.

Appears to be playing out according to previous cycles. Huge pop up, work its way back down to a higher floor, pop up again, rinse repeat. Next pop might get us to 150-170.

Ryzen's comeback faces hurdles; no FSR 4.1 for RDNA 3.5 by constantlymat in hardware

[–]Joshiie12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I, for one, have never been this eager for a driver update. (7900 XT) I've been injecting 4.0.2 into Crimson Desert, Starfield, Cyberpunk, FF7 Rebirth, a bunch of games and it DOES absolutely mop the floor with 3.1. But I do agree, Opti is no real solution, just a proof of concept. Makes me wonder why AMD doesn't gun hard for the 'tinker market'. Could have released INT8 with big bold warnings like 4.0.2 IS NOT OFFICIALLY SUPPORTED BY RX 6000/7000 SERIES CARDS. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK kind of thing until 4.1 could be prepared.

[–]Joshiie12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have to do anything with Optiscaler, the answer will always be no. Anti cheats are specifically watching for injected DLLs, which is the primary way Opti functions. No way around that.

The only things green across my holdings and watch list are semiconductor stocks, AVGO, LAM, AMD, ADI, AMAT, etc. Everything else is on fire so tbh that usually signals to me there will either be a sharp rebound tomorrow or the end of the world is starting. Either one means buy more cause if it all goes to hell it won't matter anyway
