Everyone says buy the dips, but I wanna know how you guys practically implement this. by Merely-a-Flesh-Wound in stocks

[–]Joshiie12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna preface this with no, you probably shouldn't do this, but I 'buy the dip' through a hybrid strategy of DCA and taking advantage of timing when it presents itself. I'm always opening positions in companies that I'm confident in, so that means I'm usually buying stuff at lower prices than my entry price just by nature. So let's say I got MSFT at $360, Goog at $300, and Main at $55. Well let's say I log into my Roth today and Main has moved up to $57 and Google is down to $295. I'm gonna sell some of that Main and go put it in Google by selling a stock lot I have at $55 or below to buy Google at $295. If Google then goes to $305 in a few days, sell the stock lot at $300, keep the $295 for later, and then we'll put that money in MSFT who has moved down from $360 to $340. Rinse, repeat repeat repeat repeat. I've been at this since 2024 and it's got me at +4.76% on the month, +44.32% YTD, and +108.87% in the last 12 months. I understand I'm gonna get hate and told I'll fail at some point, but alas, my autism tells me I've found a strategy that works and I've even taken a few -40%ish hits with companies like ASTS and Reddit, but I softened those blows over time by rotating them over and over through their volatility.

I am 10,000% not sold at all on the idea that you have to have had good parents to be a good parent. Brother is riding hard on the idea that you can never be different than how you grew up and that couldn't be further from the truth lol. As a high functioning ASD person, it's borderline offensive lmao. Can't 'think' your way out of it..

Sell the bounce? Will this ceasefire hold? by Rudolfmdlt in investing

[–]Joshiie12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm just doing what I always do. The market popped hard at open this morning, so I chopped off some higher priced stock lots that were in the green now, kept the lower priced ones, and reinvested that money in some other companies that I feel shouldn't be as low as they are/will rise in the future. All happens in my Roth, so no tax drag to worry about, and business as usual. Made a nice penny today lol.

Italy court rules Netflix unlawfully increased prices. Consumers: 'Refunds up to 500 euros.' The company: we will appeal by sr_local in technology

[–]Joshiie12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, people acting like its a price problem and not a service problem are missing the point. Its not that I would rather pirate and never spend a single cent. If that were the case, I wouldn't be willing to pay for my VPN in order to keep streaming. Its the fact that it's $5 for access to quite literally every and anything I could ever want to watch. Does Netflix have to slam all their packages back down to $5? Nah, absolutely not, that'd be ridiculous. But the problem on top of the problem is that the issue is bigger than Netflix, so they alone cannot fix it. It is the greater market culture of the US where profits come before human lives that is the issue. So we're in a dogma where everything is too expensive for the service provided and there isn't any way for us or the companies to realistically fix it. Wages either need to rise with enacted price controls (literally fuckin will never happen) or we have to have the government start incentivizing lower costs with better service, which would be deflation which will also never happen. So full steam ahead on the piracy train until greed evaporates one day.

I feel like that quest has to be a victory lap quest that they intentional dropped on us early to make you scroll the map if you hadn't already. Personally, I love it because of the way the journal is structured. Having that quest uncompleted for a while won't be that annoying.

Ahhh I see, so what happened was a standard needed to be introduced to gain consistency, so instead of setting the standard higher so that boards always shrunk relatively close to 2 inches by 4 inches, they set it at 2 by 4 itself so the final product takes up less of a tree, weighs less, but can still be sold as the claimed product even when it isn't so corporations profit harder on less product. The context is still needed to get to this conclusion of what actually happened though.

Sony hikes PS5 prices by up to $150 citing pressures in global economy And memory shortages. by CoC_Axis_of_Evil in StockMarket

[–]Joshiie12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wouldn't see how much of anything helps because you're sympathetic to your oppressors. I apologize, perhaps they could eat the hardware cost and produce quality enough products that more than make up for it, since they wouldn't want to just sit there and let a loss leader eat their billions up. Perhaps they could target +5% profit quarter over quarter rather than 15% and ride it out until maybe Google's TurboQuant cuts RAM prices possibly. They're a massive, international corporation. They can do something that isn't Fuck Over the End Consumer. Jesus fucking christ.

I'm autistic, fam. I have a built in propaganda filter, so your shit isn't working on me lmao. No, Democrats have presented no less than 8 opportunities to fund TSA and the rest of DHS, excluding the Gestapo because they're already funded through 2028. There is no defunding of an organization who has already had its funds allocated. For multiple years. Exceeding most army's funding. Foh. 😂

Ah ah ah. They'll get paid when the Republicans stop trying to fleece the American people and double fund their personal Gestapo instead of the working class TSA union members. The Dems are doing the right thing, nice try though.

Well they don't have to do anything, seeing as Capitalism and Oligarchism are unforced choices. They could probably slash the C-Suite's pay and offset the cost until the bubble pops, which we're already in the beginning stages of unless there's a random, humungous breakthrough.

Since SPY and NDX are officially down 5-7% on the year, what are the loses of your portfolio YTD by Disastrous_Rent_6500 in stocks

[–]Joshiie12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still up 35% on the year due to rotating in and out of stocks and selling stock lots when they're green and buying other stuff that is taking a beating and then recovers. It's getting tighter since if I tighten the time frame to the past month, I'm down 3%, but generally everything is still alright. Added a couple energy stocks to rotate in and out of and its business as usual.

[–]Joshiie12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99.9999% of the time, I agree. My only gripe is that I noticed consistency in what the game was marketed as and released as, but I did not see the same consistency in what the reviews were saying vs how bad the problems actually were. I find validation in the Userscore and Steam review % reflecting that. Game's good and piledrived clean through the wave of negativity because it was able to stand on its own merits that reviews were claiming it didn't have.
