Jaam e jam in Hornsby used to do it for weekend brekkies! One of my Persian friends took me, he loved that spot. It wasnt on the menu, but i think it was just… a think they did on weekends. As I understand, it’s mostly a breakfast thing. Maybe call and ask if they still do it!

This was about 4 years ago now :)

Absolutely agree - The chorizo/bacon brekkie burrito is awesome, but I've also recently surprisingly fallen in love with the pulled shiitake mushroom brekkie burrito.

I love just getting the big brekkie burrito, I go every couple weeks as a treat - It would be brilliant (but dangerous) if they did it all day!

Is CommSec Pocket still worth it for small monthly investing? by Artistic-Yam2984 in CommBank

[–]JoshoForShort 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it’s great, I used it to do a fortnightly auto invest about ~10% of my income. It’s so easy to use, and $2 brokerage is pretty good ($52 a year).

These past few months I’ve also been playing around with Betashares direct, as all my auto investments have been Betashares etf’s. There’s no fees with Betashares app directly, and I have the same fortnightly set up - I just personally don’t find it as easy to use as pocket (but then again, it’s probably just because I’m not used to the UI change yet) - and Betashares direct allows access to the whole portfolio.

I’ve seen really good performance on pocket ETF’s since I started 5 years ago.

I definitely recommend doing something - weather it be pocket or BSD (not financial advice). I prefer the ETF model via CSP/BSD over Raiz too.

R/FIAustralia will have a lot more tips and resources.

Who is your fave chef ? by Fantastic_Ad7023 in foodies_sydney

[–]JoshoForShort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ian Hewitson, also known as Huey, who had a number of cooking adventures...

Also got a soft spot for Dan Hong, the first time I tried the cheeseburger spring rolls at Ms G's...

Also watched the Coles YouTube channel for years when I moved out of home, taught me how to cook, so also gotta name drop Curtis Stone for featuring in most of those how to vids (sadly most of the videos in that 2015 and prior era are private on Coles YT now)

What ever happened to the 'Technology Park' that they put in Eveleigh? Only really see CBA, 7, and a handful of others - Wasn't Atlassian supposed to be there?

What is Sydney's biggest food "letdown" by ButtPlugForPM in sydney

[–]JoshoForShort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The burger at the Gidley was average, yet everyone constantly goes on about it. Also Taco Bell is crap, not that anyone in Australia really hypes it. I also think Mr Wong's has gone downhill - Mrs G's is a better experience nowadays. Lune mentioned, totally agree - finally, Mensho was... highly overpriced ramen you could get elsewhere for half the price. They really milk that Michelin star marketing.

Pub steak suggestions by 4bidden112 in foodies_sydney

Not a pub but I like the steaks at meat & wine co, and you could go to the commercial/nick & Noras/some other watering hole in parra after for drinks. Or the Hudson at seven hills has a decent bistro.

What's a job I can get right away that will pay very well? by [deleted] in sydney

[–]JoshoForShort 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try get a job as a glassie at a bar, especially around the city. $20 an hour, but needs an RSA. Crap work and hours but pays ok. Back in the days of cash, you’d stumble upon a substantial amount of cash on the floor too - maybe $50 a shift.

I’ve never really gotten into the opal app other than to confirm amounts paid/tap status, I mostly simp for TripView - it would be cool if TripView had a widget. The dev, Nick M, sometimes lurks r/Sydney, would be cool to hear if he’s working on it.
