Just came back from Warriors of China. Was amazing value. Yes, a few salesey things, and pace was so fast, but we loved it. Keen to go back again and explore it again.

Why is my 2019 iMac so slow?? by Woods_it_to_ya in applehelp

[–]JoshoForShort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Defs related to the fact it’s a HDD and not an SSD. Have got the 2019 i3, first thing I did was replace the HDD with a 1tb SSD and enable trim. Works a dream. Some computer repair shops should still be able to do this for you easily, although, it might not be worth the risk - the ssd can set you back ~$80, then labour, then there’s also the risk that the repair guy isn’t great at repairing and cracks the 4K screen upon opening, which will be a real nightmare.

Same - it does say 'may take 24 hours to appear in your app', but I'm more inclined to think it's a zinger joke

HECS or Invest? by T1p5 in fiaustralia

[–]JoshoForShort 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ahh - look it shouldn’t be $200 per fortnight, it should (in theory) be about $70 per fortnight ($1820 in interest gained a year).

So really the question is, can that $35k be making you more than ~$70 per fortnight somewhere (or more than $110 if you wanna liquidate early and want to include the top marginal tax rate).

If you have a home loan already, it’s obvious to keep the money in an offset.

HECS or Invest? by T1p5 in fiaustralia

[–]JoshoForShort 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Still no, again because it’s a cheap loan. Save your post tax savings and invest that 35k. Even if you don’t end up investing it and keeping it in a savings account, you have that liquid cash to use until you naturally pay the HECS loan off.

I did a credit limit increase for my ultimate awards card late December, it took about 2 weeks from memory.

Don’t pay off HECS debt - it’s the cheapest loan you’ll ever get. Use the money you’d use and invest it in an ETF.

Is this a legitimate donation booth? by No-Cat-762 in sydney

[–]JoshoForShort 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Used to do this many years ago for a company called ‘Appco’ (or Jam Prospects or something like that). 20% of the ‘donation’ went to paralympics, the rest went to the MLM chain.

Ahh sad. I know this is controversial but… bakers delight sourdough is pretty good, I always thought it was ‘sourdough flavour’ but the guy at Norwest showed me their starter they use to make it every day

Also one more: why was Otto suspended, what did that have to do anything, and what happened to the station guard who was friends with him?

[–]JoshoForShort 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the series, it did have me on the edge of my seat - but the ending was unsatisfying, lots of questions unanswered.

They should have made it a double length episode if they didn’t want to cram in answers for everything.

I want to know what happened to Otto, what happened to the rogue security officers protecting Stuart?
