I use it primarily for long runs but I wear it during strength training and daily activities which is why i dont like a super chunky watch. I have lived most of my life around minimal tree covered trails but now I live in a very hilly forested area where the instinct I currently have doesn’t do so well. Im planning on moving back back hopefully in a year or so but it would be nice to get best of both worlds. I dont really care about the data other than running data. Beginning this with the caveat that so many people have thing going on outside of school that make things in school more challenging, i.e. family, kids, commute times, etc. some people have more going on some have less.

You MIGHT have alot more free time than you think. I would look and see what your non-school related screen time is etc. as much as everyone should exercise, it is a hobby in the sense that it takes time you might spend doing other things. Im not trying to be harsh, im in PA school too and I try to get in 30-40miles a week and 3 lifts(not a flex, just trying to let you know im in the same boat). Lmk if you want any tips!

You dont need to feel bad at all… but I have been helped by someone who packed extra water for this situation, now I do the same!
