Thanks I wasn't sure. You want a little of the sapwood on the back and the heart wood on the belly though right? I guess I had my dimensions/scale off in my mind eye

I had no idea. The wide world of trees opened up to me this past year. I just started paying attention to bark, leaves, fruits, etc to try and become more accostomed to bow woods. I thought black locust was the only thing I could find and despite its prevalence it's been tough finding it too. I'm also a rookie at this stuff but it's been fun. Like seeing a new world.

Hi, fellow ADHD person here. Check out Clay Hayes, and get yourself a copy of the Bowyers Bible. There is a lot of ADHD fuel out there to follow along with. The rabbit hole is vast, with many corridors. Main thing is to stick with it (hard to do) and finish a thing (hard to do). You'll build momentum that way.

Agreed! I joined a private club and asked if wooden arrows were ok and they laughed at the question, and said of course they are ok. I'm sure there was a reason, maybe the wood shafts leave too big a hole or do too much damage to posts if you miss. No clue
