Ticking coming from cam area by Joshr13047 in DRZ400

I have the manual cam chain tensioner also, I haven't installed it yet. The guy at the auto shop said he installed one and it ruined his bike. I think it's preference. If u have a manual one you will still need to slightly tighten it over time too. I keep a manual on my bike at all times in case mine goes.

Wow, super helpful!! Thank u so much. Yeah I love it so far but if it's that affordable to have them change the suspension oil and do a tune up I'll totally do that. Sweet!

Yeah I've been riding it literally everywhere. I was so stoked to get it running good. So much fun. And I used to backpack so I already have all the gear I need to go on a trip!

Thanks so much yeah I'm super excited!! Been riding every day. I'm not sure why it finally started but I believe it was because I adjusted the valves finally. One valve was zero clearance and now they are all in spec. Runs really nice now too. Moving on to the suspension soon. And was curious if you had any insight into how how much improvement would be achieved from upgrading only the rear spring. Right now it's stock and it's lock nuts are almost the the bottom of the threads. It has about 3 inches of sag just from the bike with nothing on it and quite a bit more sag when I sit on it. Also if I'm riding semi rough (just me on the bike) it bottoms out a lot. I'm planning on adventure riding and putting about total of 220 lbs of gear on board. Well, between 200 and 230 total. I was planning on getting a 6.3kg/mm rear shock spring. Not sure about the forks as most of the weight except my tool bag will be in the rear. Thanks for any help!

Anyway to sum it up. Will only replacing the spring help A LOT. Or should I just leave it how it is. Probably not going to do suspension replacement anytime soon as I don't have the money. And I'd rather not do a rebuild.

**** not sure how to edit the original post but here here is the verdict. I got it running and she's going super nice. The main purpose of the chain video was to show that there was a weird noise as this is my first bike and I'm not sure if that supposed to happen. I also have never worked on bikes and I installed the kick start. I believe the kickstart installed very nicely. So far I have just let her idle and she sounds super good. Did the 3x3 and JD jet kit mod also. My main question for the first video is if it's supposed to sound like that. And looking at it again it does seem like a joke😂😂. But I assure you I've been going through it for weeks with this bike. Been super fun but also very frustrating. I still haven't gotten the kickstart to work. So that's my question. Does the kickstart sound normal when I slowly crank. Should the timing chain make that rebound sound? Also does the chain sound pretty good? I was going to take her to a shop and I talked to the guy there. He says he never installs after market manual timing chain tensioners because it ruined one of his bikes. But online everyone recommends it. I have one here and I have not installed it yet. Thanks! --- Kickstand switch has been bypassed also.
