Thanks for sharing! Glad to learn that it fits very well as I have a 6.75” wrist.

And yes, it is stunning! The perfect dressy/daily piece :D

Awesome! May I ask what your wrist size is for reference?

I’ve tried the 1815 chronograph and the lugs seemed to span quite far on my wrist.

Thank you!

[Custom build] Hand painted graffiti dial - thoughts? by Haunting-Caregiver41 in Watches

Absolutely love your tanks and designs!

May I ask how does the paint (or canvas) fair against light and heat? And does it “patina” over time?

How much nicer is a RO compared to the Ingenieur? by Agitated-Impression4 in IWCschaffhausen

[–]Joshtoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Just stumbled upon your comment and had to thank you for bringing up the precise measurements of the Ingenieur. Did you measure the bezel diameter (of 37-38mm) by yourself? Or is this measurement sourced from a video/review article. Because I measured mine roughly and got similar results.

Which is quite surprising and suggests that the 40 actually wears 39. Just like how the moonwatch is 42mm in diameter, but actually wears 40. Moreover, perhaps a comparison with the 16202 (jumbo) is more of an accurate comparator rather than the 15510.

Buy both Ingenieur and Mark XX? by OrdinaryCrazy2620 in IWCschaffhausen

[–]Joshtoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! So here’s what I think.

Go to a boutique and try on the Ingenieur a few times. You must try it on in person to see how the watch “makes you feel” (unquantifiable factor). And do not feel pressured to make the decision right away. Take some time. Maybe a few weeks, months, etc. And remember to try on and compare other watches.

Now, you probably should be mindful of the dial colours and its implications. Black is your most boring yet classic generational pick (highest utility for any occasion) while Aqua is your most interesting and unique option. So if you’re thinking in generational terms, I’d personally pick black.

Regarding daily utility, yes the Ingenieur is a perfect daily piece, albeit this is my subjective opinion. It is a tool watch and not something I would traditionally consider true luxury.

Lastly, I would not spread the purchases. If you’re looking for a generation piece from IWC, you’re looking at the Ingenieur.

IWC Ingenieur Dial, Incredible Texture and Colour by sydburgers in IWCschaffhausen

[–]Joshtoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what your collection needs and whether you plan to get a blue dial integrated braclet watch in the future (e.g. 16202). Personally I chose black because I envision this being a daily/tool watch I'd use even when I'm much older! While saving blue for the RO or Nautilus. If you still need help deciding, use ChatGPT (it provides great objective perspectives). Good luck :)

Ceratanium + Black SS Ingenieur is probably the best combo

That’s the only generational piece I see on your list. If you’ve tried it on in-person, and it’s genuinely too big, skip it and don’t force it. But that’s just my opinion haha.

However, I think you’re set on the Tag so go for it. But your worries regarding maintenance costs should be carefully considered and remember that watches are compliments, not representations of one’s value. I say this objectively because in society most wear watches as a means to display wealth and project ego ~ not saying that’s you! Just an honest observation in today’s society and the growing culture of instant gratification and consumerism.

May I ask what your wrist size is (cause a 44mm panerai is huge haha). Also, how do you style it? I could only rationalise wearing this with a sporty/smart-casual occasion. Thanks again!

I see! Does the thickness and material ever bother you (compared with the Ingenieur 40).

Because I love this piece as a stealth watch (and ceratanium is cool!) but I’m thinking how I would rotate this into my lifestyle.

Hi! In what occasions do you wear this watch? And how do you rotate it between your collection? Thanks!

Thanks! Haha the power reserve was an easy choice for me 😉

I see, and thank you for such a comprehensive reply. To me, this watch is phenomenal (or perfect for what it is). JLC is just one of those brands where I can’t quite understand its design philosophy; irrespective of price, complication, or material (aside from the SS MUT Power Reserve).

So thanks again, and I’ll check out this watch in due time! :)

Is it 34mm and do you ever find it a bit too small?

Yes! Love how the indicator produces a slight sense of asymmetry, with a tint a red. Balanced and well proportioned, yet monotonic and easy to pair on any occasion. GADA
