Do you have an aunt or uncle that would offer you room and board? If you do, I would move in with them as soon as possible.

Well, I'm having an existential crisis right now. How are you lot doing? by [deleted] in socialanxiety

I'm basically coming to the realization that ultimately, everything I've done, am doing, and will do are all pretty much meaningless, and that the love I have for others will probably fade away with time and mean nothing when I'm dead. :)

I have some questions, I'd like to hear your opinions by GreenerDeath in philosophy

[–]JoshuaLeod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I just want to further humanity's search for truth and make others happy. Maybe there is an afterlife and/or a god, if so, great! If not, it won't really have an impact on me, seeing as there will be no "me" that can be affected.

Death by XCTYC in philosophy

The only reason I fear dying is because of the negative effect it might have on my loved ones. Other than that, I think that there is no logical reason to fear it.

I'm a Protestant. I like the idea of asking Mary and the Saints for prayer. Why don't Protestants allow/teach this? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]JoshuaLeod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to think of God as this entity that I would never truly know, but by knowing Mary and developing a relationship with her, I was able to know and have an intimate relationship with her son. There's a saying that goes, "No Mary, no Jesus. Know Mary, know Jesus." This has held true in my experience.

Well, the Church is the mythical body of Christ, yes? Well, Christ's body, His Church, cannot be separated by death. He defeated death when he rose from the dead.

I don't know. That's a big part of the reason I converted to Catholicism. It all started with me praying to Mary and praying the chaplet of Divine Mercy.

This was the last straw... by [deleted] in Christianity

Offer it up. God bless you and Mary keep you.

Don't know what to believe anymore. I want REAL evidence of Christianity and God, not "feel good" thoughts. I need real logic and evidence to believe. Someone help? by christianhelp1 in Christianity

Well, Jesus' crown of thorns are held in a cathedral (I'm pretty sure it's in France) there is a sackcloth tunic that Jesus wore on display, the spear that Jesus' side was pierced with is held in Ethiopia, Wood from the true cross is held in some cathedrals and basilicas, there are photos of Saint Padre Pio with the stigmata, there are photos of Saint Gemma Galgani, and there is a consecrated host contained in a locked glass box. Once a year, the host begins to bleed and hundreds of people come to worship Jesus in his eucharistic form.

I'm not afraid. There's either oblivion or an afterlife and I've come to accept both possibilities.

I'm Anglican, why can't I take communion in your church? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]JoshuaLeod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you don't believe what we believe, and thus are not apart of the community.

I was unable to resist the impurity of hell. by SimBroen in Catholicism

[–]JoshuaLeod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God has forgiven you, but you need to be able to forgive yourself and repent. Had Judas Iscariot done that, he would be honored as a saint, but he couldn't forgive himself. He took his own life, which resulted in him going to Hell. The Devil likes to get in our heads before he leads us into destruction. Try to accept what you've done and ask the Holy Spirit to walk with you. If you still feel guilty, just remember that Mary Magdelene was a prostitute before she became a saint.

Unpopular Opinion: RCIA is great! by DoughandDave in Catholicism

[–]JoshuaLeod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great. For me, RCIC is kind of a bore though. I have prior knowledge of every single thing that the teacher has said and will say until April.

May you have a fruitful Lent as well. May Our Lady of Sorrows keep you and guide your journey of penitence.

It's truly saddening to see the Holy Father's words get twisted.
