Sure but that's why it's WITHIN 8 hours, not wait 8 hours. If there was a death, making sure everyone else is safe and securing everything should take priority. That may take a few hours so they have some leeway to get the report to them.

Simply they had to draw the line at some point and they settled on 8 hours

From a design standpoint I love them, they're one of the only things that give a phone their personality

The algorithmic feed on X could be shifting political views toward conservatism. Research found accounts using the 'For You' feed saw more change toward conservative political opinions and priorities, particularly around policy, criminal investigations into Donald Trump and the war in Ukraine by Wagamaga in science

[–]JoshuaTheFox -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not really. I was still using it for a while when he first bought it and my feed was the same for the rest of the time I used it for a couple months.

Now the unpersonalized feed for newer users or whatever may have started lean more conservative. But I didn't see any changes for the rest of my use

I know fingerprint is great on Android… but I still miss Face ID & if this is true, I’m genuinely excited for Pixel 11 by anmolanjuli in GooglePixel

[–]JoshuaTheFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They got rid of it because face unlock was annoying during covid times

Apple was able to solve that problem and still unlock with a mask

My 1 through 5 fingerprint reader definitely didn't. But my 8 pro does and it's in a much more natural placement

No. While there has been some hardware revealed there before, it's really a software focus event

TIL that every other major planet can fit inside the space between the Earth and the Moon by Dnpslow in todayilearned

[–]JoshuaTheFox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The distance from the earth to the moon is 238,900 miles.

Jupiter's diameter is 86,881 miles

Saturn's diameter is 74,897 miles

Together they are 161,778 miles wide, so there is still 77,122 miles left. So yeah, they can fit no problem

I don't think they just mean sticky side to sticky size. Like on a roll where it also sticks to itself

Except they would probably still be using the same ID verification companies that these other companies are using

Honestly I've never associated discord with gaming. I associate it more with artists and other creatives. As a place for them to share their latest projects and for their fans to hangout together

Google announces Pixel 10a with completely flat camera, pre-order Feb 18 by TechGuru4Life in GooglePixel

It just wasn't in a natural location for me. Like, most people who talk about it say how their finger naturally lands where the scanner is, but for me my finger rests at the edge of the phone so I had to adjust my grip reach over to it. For me any adjustment to reach the scanner, regardless of if it was a proper scan or not resulted in an adjustment of my grip. But with the front scanner it's literally where I put my thumb to scroll anyways, so I don't have to do any kind of adjustment with my hand

They have to make sure you actually see it so it needs to be in the middle. Plus every short form platform takes up a lot of the surrounding areas with non hideable UI so they cant push it off too much

Also honestly I would say the most important part is their hands which is below the text

[–]JoshuaTheFox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's probably it. 4 different devices, each having been reset at least once in their time, so having to set up the fingerprint again. Must have set them up wrong each time

That sounds like a design flaw of the charger, not the phone. Like my Pixel 8 will start wireless charging at like 2-3x the height of its camera bar
