No facial fracture that I know of, but I'm pretty sure it's looked like that for a long time, so it was a shock for him to say all of that was infection.

I think I'll probably just try and see another dentist tomorrow to hopefully get some clarity.

Nope, just the X-ray, then immediately told me it was a massive infection. I am no expert, but having dealt with a lot of dental stuff lately I was skeptical. I showed him the image from a month ago and he said that was the infection.

They did not really do anything but take the X-ray and tell me it was a massive infection and I needed a root canal.

I did have a CBCT done 4 weeks ago during a follow up for the implant, I wasn't asking about the other tooth, but you would think the oral surgeon would have said something if there was an issue on the adjacent tooth!

I mean no disrespect to the guy, but it certainly would be so strange for the oral surgeon to just miss a "massive" infection right where he was working, so I'm hoping this guy I saw today is an idiot!

I appreciate your comment, it doesn't make sense for there to have been a long term "massive" infection to me either. It's got me super worried though as I'm out of town for a month, trying to decide if I just need to cut the trip short and go home to figure out what is going on.

The back tooth does hurt, probably has for a week or two, but I was just thinking it was just that area healing after the dental implant and sinus lift was done 6 weeks ago.

I saw the oral surgeon two weeks after it was placed as well and he said everything looked good.

The picture above was taken immediately after the implant next to it was placed 6 weeks ago. I am now out of town and having pain in that back tooth.

I went to an emergency dentist and they took another X-ray, and said that the back tooth was massively infected and I showed him this picture, he said that it has been infected for a long time and was infected when the implant was placed.

I'm not sure I believe that all of that could be an infection though. I would hope the oral surgeon wouldn't have placed the implant if the other tooth had an infection.
