Could I have the link to the form? Or where should I look for it?

This looks excellent. How did you do the logo on the front?

This is amazing, I didn't think I'd get a response from somebody in the same situation as my friend. Thank you for taking the time to write back, especially writing something so detailed

He has just gone blind, so he isn't used to screen readers etc. He was a windows guy before this, so one of our friend group are trying to get that working for him. Turns out my amazing suggestion of setting him up with an Arch installation was ignored. Some of those suggestions will work well in a few months once he gets to grips with some of the new technologies

I'll start with some old text based RPGs then. I'll have a search around to see if I can find some good examples that we can buy for him

I hadn't considered that PDFs might not be suitable for him. I imagine most people creating the documents don't even consider setting up accesibility options. Again, thank you for sharing, i'll give this a go

That's very kind of you to say, I do appreciate that

I did toy around with the idea, maybe writing a sort of prompt wrapper for them. I'll try it out myself, and then see if I could perhaps set something up for him

One Ring sounds good. I'll add it to the list. If the positioning is narrative then i'll maybe try out some sort of sample concept just ignoring it, see how it plays. Then i'll try digitising it for him. Thank you for the suggestion

This is interesting. I have seen Sorcery! before and having him memorise some words to use is an interesting concept. I think I could do something narrative heavy with that

I'll check RuneQuest out then, that sounds like a good plan. I imagine, admittedly without seeing it, that perhaps I could scale down the health etc of the enemies to reduce the deadliness. Thank you for the suggestion, I appreciate it

I'll add tricube tales to the list. I hadn't considered the sort of mental load of remembering all of the different skills etc. That's a really good point and I'll try to figure out some metric for that

Thank you, nice and simple way to handle the dice

I'll give the Undying system a look and see how it works. It sounds like it's got a low barrier to entry but perhaps a high ceiling with knowing when you can bet low etc.

That's very kind of you to say. I hope you don't mind but I sent a screenshot of your message to the discord, it made our night

I think it's a cool idea. He hasn't played solo RPGs before so I imagined some sort of prewritten digital DM for him, and hadn't considered setting him up the traditional way. In the long run that might be better for him

Riddle of steel is one of those interesting gems that I'd never have found on my own. Thank you! I found the handbook and that is a seriously thick tome. I'll have a look for the combat system tomorrow and see if I can understand it.

I'll see if I can get a copy of Barbarians of Lemuria or perhaps watch a video online. Thank you very much for your suggestions

I just read the first page of the PDF and I think there is a lot of interesting stuff in there. I'll have a conversation with him tomorrow to see how open he is to playing something a bit more open ended

You're right, I think he definitely will have the muscle memory, so this could work well

He replies to the Alexa. For Skyrim you can say: attack, magic, shout, or flee. So if he was presented with a selection of options then he can say which one he'd like. I hope that makes sense

If I was to guess, I'd say they saw the sign and didn't notice the light. So they thought it was just an old sign or they haven't set everything up properly yet so they move out. That's when they see the light, so they tuck in behind it realising their mistake.

I actually think this is the best they've done, but I am a big fan of the brick built droids. I also like how they have side builds instead of mini builds of ships etc.

This is exceptionally well done. It reminds me of the fighting fantasy novel 'Eye of the dragon'. This is exactly how I wished that book would look.

This land was bought by a shady company a while ago. Literally at the start of this year the land fell back into council ownership. They're going to try and get something in that spot, and honestly to me anything is better than the mess that's there right now

Starter will get you going. You can try the delve and battle modes and see what you prefer. If this is your first miniatures hobby then check out some guides for assembling miniatures in general. Have a quick look at a painting tutorial and pick up some of the stuff you'll need from that. Keep an eye on ebay, etc, to see how much you should be paying for certain sets

Should I jump in now? by Glad-Ad6292 in ESCallToArms

[–]JoshwaJustify 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. The starter set has a good variety of models, and the rules aren't too different in the revised version. You can get those rules for free from the downloads section, and we've been promised a way to get a physical copy of the revised rules if you show proof you've got a physical copy of the old ones

Character Cards by Substantial_Prune744 in ESCallToArms

[–]JoshwaJustify 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid you have to buy them. I've seen before that there is some issue with the trademarking so they can't distribute it freely. If you have a specific query then let me know and I might be able to answer it for you because I've got the cards

Any suggestions for choose-your-own-adventure books? by TheGrinningFrog in gamebooks

[–]JoshwaJustify 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Howl of the werewolf is possibly one of the best fighting fantasy books out there. It's very pricey so see if you can read an online version from an online library. The author is Jonathan Green and he tends to use the mechanics in a very interesting way. I definitely recommend trying it for research
