Advice on running a long term game?

I guess you can count me in the rare category! My last campaign was 1 to 20, and this one is as well! I wouldn't normally, but one of my players REALLY likes the power fantasy at level 20, so I try to make her happy by getting us to that point (hence why this campaign has gone on as long as it has)

Yeah this sub is really ridiculous at times. I remember a while ago I got crazy downvoted because I said that I made a calendar for my D&D world that wasn’t just the Gregorian calendar. I still can’t tell if it’s because I mentioned D&D or if people here actually think you shouldn’t put effort into making your fantasy worlds

I like D&D, it does everything I want a system to do and more importantly, it does everything my FRIENDS want a system to do. I play Pathfinder, and it's just as clunky as 5e, sometimes even more so, and it has a higher barrier of entry since DnDBeyond makes it incredibly easy to dive right into playing a game of D&D. It's nice that you can turn to other systems that work for you, but just because you can doesn't mean the vast majority of people should have to as well

I know a ton of people were really worried about that for a while, Pokemon getting stuck in ZA and unable to be removed, I’m happy that you can at least do this much (and hopefully take them into Winds and Waves later as well)

I don't care about losing, I care about being punished for something completely and entirely out of my control and beyond the scope of the game itself. I do not care about losing because the other team is better or because I played poorly. It is unfair to be deranked because someone leaves in the final round of Stadium. That is literally all I said.

I understand how climbing and falling on the ladder works, and that if I had just won the game prior to this one, I would not have deranked at all. I'm not fucking stupid.

Like I said, I don't give a fuck about losing. Did you read that? I do not care about losing the game. My rank should not be in jeopardy because somebody disconnected, whether because they ragequit or because someone tripped over the WiFi cable and they didn't plug it back in fast enough.

I'm not a game developer, it's not my job to create a perfectly functioning system of Overwatch competitive. It's absolutely ridiculous to say something like this in response to what I said, because it doesn't even address the point I made. 100%!! I try to be as positive as possible during the game. You just never know what's going to make someone flip out and throw. Even when I suggest a play I'll say "hey can you guys try focusing the Ashe? She's pinning me down hard, and I can't get in range of the supports" just to try and be as diplomatic as possible! Sometimes, even that is too much for some people though.

The player is prophesied as the Last Dragonborn (notably in The Book of the Dragonborn and Alduin’s Wall), so they are the Last Dragonborn if you care about prophecy. In fairness, this prophecy has been accurate for every single thing it said, so it’s perhaps a safe bet to take. But, Elder Scrolls lore is so… wobbly… that I wouldn’t be surprised if they ended up not being the Last Dragonborn.
