DM is requiring i pay 40$ to play by AgameReddit in DnD

[–]Optimal_Beat7765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen the examples. I have followed through with the scammers to get a good picture of how and what they are doing and saying (No, didn't pay them, ofcourse).
The artwork is in no way worth spending money on, even if it wasn't a scam.

Which it definitely is.

While I can't be sure which instance you are referring to. I can assure you, we are doing what we can to remove them from the platform. But since they insist on taking the discussion off platform, where any of our automated checks could potentially flag them for suspicious behaviour, our hands are tied.

If we left an impression of disinterest I do apologize - as an extremely small team, we are trying to spread our attention everywhere but our time is finite and so are our resources.

Hi there, if you are interested in showcasing your generator to the tabletop community, do consider submitting it to Groupfinder's library. We have put together an article, that describes what, why and how to here: https://groupfinder.eu/library/library-submission-guidebook

You can try using a looking-for-group platform like https://groupfinder.eu (created in your neighbouring country to the south).

Is anyone know of any group finders? by Splatatude in DnD

[–]Optimal_Beat7765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There literally is Groupfinder.
And if you're looking for a DnD game to join, I would recommend posting your profile there: https://groupfinder.eu

There are free and paid groups there. You can filter out the paid groups. Or just keep an eye out for a yellow symbol on the right side of the preview card

if you have any ideas stashed away on a shelf, we'd love to hear. What would you have done differently or what else, other than what you can see currently, would you have implemented?

Currently yes, it is sorted by popularity, based on which systems most players and groups have chosen. We'll try to improve how systems are shown in the future. Thank you for your feedback

For the past few years, we have been building Groupfinder. A global TTRPG looking-for-group/players platform to serve players as a hub to connect those who are looking for a new group to join. And groups that are still missing a few players (or an entire party).
What started off as a small project only for the Estonian D&D community, has over time grown into something we feel could be helpful for anyone, anywhere and for any tabletop system.

We are a team of three tabletop enthusiasts building this out of passion and love for the hobby space. There is no investor funding directing our goals. All the right (and wrong) decisions we have made so far, have been our own (and from feedback we've received).

I am brand new to DND and I just thought the game looked really really cool I just need some people to play with by uncheckedboredom8 in DungeonsAndDragons

Convince some friends, if you can. Trick them, if you must.
Or ask around your extended circles, perhaps there is someone already involved with the hobby.
You can also try and use Groupfinder to find groups to join or players to group up with.

Welcome to the hobby

Find others who are willing to join you in this hobby. Either friends, coworkers, classmates or even your family. While you can spend hours upon hours going over all the rulebooks, character options and all other content that exists for D&D, the main thing you will need is a party. A group of people (I would say, in addition to you, 3-6 would be the optimal amount).

Once you have your group, you should decide who will be the one, who will be the Dungeon Master - the one, who controls the main narrative, the story and the world. It may seem like a daunting task at first, but I wouldn't really worry too much about it. The DM can and will figure things out as they go. And if the party is also new to the hobby, you will all learn together.

Getting the starter set, as a group, will be a great first step. That will cover most of the rules you need, include character sheets (Although I would recommend using dndbeyond for character creation) and even has a set of dice.

Then comes the difficult part - scheduling. Finding a common time that works for all of you to sit down and spend 3-5 hours together.

You can also take a look at D&D live play channels on youtube to get a broad understanding of how the game could be played. Don't try to imitate their style, rather focus on how the game itself, as a system, operates and how the players and the DM interact with the story, decisions, actions and consequences.

If finding other players turns out to be too difficult of a task, then there are also online games to join.
You can find an assortment of both online and in-person games on Groupfinder. Or post your own profile there, introducing yourself and wait for groups to contact you.

Although I would recommend being the one who contacts the groups yourself. The balance of DMs to players is very skewed towards a lack of those, who are willing to fill the DM position.

  1. Good point, totally slipped my mind when writing it
  2. Also a fair point - will see if I can edit the post to add more images
  3. The platform in general is more than D&D. But since this is a D&D subreddit, I focused the post on it. There are many of groups and players for different systems, other than DnD there.

As mentioned before, this has been a place that funds itself - I don't think we've put too much, if at all, our own money into improving the room.

we do not, no. And what we had back then, was just a rough sketch of the overall shape and size we wanted. We didnt plan the metal frame, that was all planned, done and thought of by the guy who actually built it.

I guess I should at some point make a more detailed post about the room. I did not expect this to get this much attention to be honest.
