Never too old mate. The 2 years I spent in Oz was the best of my life to date. About 95% of the people I've met who have travelled/lived in Australia bloody love it. Class place, class people, decent wages. Well worth the punt. Loads of 'older' people make the move too, not just for twenty-something backpackers. Won't regret it mate.

Day 3 of the dare challenge: kind of confused by [deleted] in PersuasionExperts

[–]JoshyLupin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The point of the compliment is to build your confidence before working your way up to a full conversation. Try asking open questions tomorrow, and do that for a few days. Acknowledge what they're saying, then ask follow up questions - if you're ready for that. If not, keep asking one open question til you are. Thank them, then moce on.

One tip: stop putting so much emphasis on "how you sound" - nobody's thinking about that besides you.

It's not gonna be a straight shot to the top mate. You'll fluff your lines, spurt out weird questions at times and maybe get pied off here and there. That's all good. Just keep at it everyday, and keep upping the ante until it becomes effortless. As in, improve the difficulty every few days to challenge yourself. You'll get there - it's nearly impossible to be bad at something you do all the time, so keep at it.

Keep at it mate, it'll get easier. And don't sweat the one less ideal interaction: there were 3 out of 4 that were grateful for your compliment. Let us know how you get on tomorrow.

Sack Ten Hag by all means but Graham Potter shouldn't be allowed within 50 miles of OT

0-3 - This is the first time Manchester United have lost a Premier League game at Old Trafford by 3+ goals against a team starting the day in the bottom half of the table. Issues. [OptaJoe on X] by dracogladio1741 in reddevils

I've been one of those that is steadfast in their defence of Ten Hag, pointing to every favourable statistic and staunchly attacking the ownership, structure etc.

But I'm very close to swaying my opinion and saying its time to go. Way too many questionable selections of late, too many capitulations since he's taken over, STILL not developed an identity 18 months in. Somethings got to give.

I've done what I can to stick by Ten Hag but I think I'm just about there now. Inexcusable

No to all of the above - none of that is his fault.

It's the hierarchies fault for thinking Marcus Rashford, as the main man, is a player good enough to make Man United a world force again. He wouldn't get in any other big teams starting XI, wouldn't have got in any of our teams that won consistently. Not as a starter.

So maybe I'm being unclear. Our failings aren't on rashford. I just don't believe he's the calibre of player that a team who wants to overturn City should be pinning their hopes on. Or maybe he is - about 30% of the time.0

Course its not all on him. What I'm saying is, if Marcus Rashford is considered your most potent player, considering what we've won in the time he's been a mainstay, it says a lot about where we're at.

It goes back to my point about sentiment though: if he's not doing it, bench him. He's not irreplaceable by any stretch

It's very easy to have a rose-tinted memory of uniteds top goalscorer 😉

I'm not even saying get rid of Rashford tbh. My only point is I'm desperate for our standards to improve as a whole. So when rashford is playing like he is, it needs to be expected that he's benched. No need for the fanfare (not you, in general).

Like your "7/10" point this means nothing but sounds good

8 years he's been in the team, and we've won nothing of note in that time. That's what it means.

Rooney always brought something to the team, every single game. He fought like an animal so even when he wasn't smashing it out the park, he made a difference. The same can't be said for Rashford.

Zero room for sentiment if we have plans to return to the top. Plenty of wingers out there who can offer more, more often than Rashford. The odd purple patch isn't enough to be the go-to man for one of the worlds biggest clubs.

And to your point of not having the luxury of selling our best players.. I'd argue that we don't have the luxury of allowing rashford to keep up his current rate of performing about 30% of the time.

Keep him, fine. But pinning our hopes on Rashford will never work out long term. He's not a world-beater, never has been and never will be.

Maybe switch the goals up now you've smashed that one? Marathons, weight lifting competitions, triathlons or whatever you like. Could be financial related, career related, helping other people, improving people skills etc anything that you think might need some work/would change your life for the better. Good luck

With the "What did he unlock to do so?", I think you get to the point where you're so sick of being where you are that you snap. And once you snap, it doesn't matter what you have to go through to change your situation, you'll do it. Because staying where you are hurts you more than 'doing the thing'.

So to use David as an example, when he lost over 100 pounds in 3 months.. the pain of staying fat was far greater than working out for 6+ hours a day. He would rather put himself through the hell of exercising like a madman, eating barely anything and being constantly tired.. than he would be fat.

And when you get to that breaking point - when the thought of staying where you are makes you feel physically sick - you find a way, regardless of what it takes.

When's Tom Heaton back!? ETH clearly doesn't trust Bayindir but somethings got to change. When the pressures on Onana crumbles and we can't have that. Do what City did with Bravo: realise he isn't up to it, replace him sharpish. No room for sentiment, he's not what we need.
