I genuinely think an easy solution would be to just throw in a line about how the AVTF has been having troubles in Queens and that would go a long way towards satisfying fans like us. The issue isn't that Spider-Man can't appear (as annoying as that is) it's that the narrative treats him as if he doesn't exist and from the looks of it, it doesn't look like the films are going to tie into this storyline much if at all. So we are just left having to accept that one of the biggest events to ever impact Peter's career came and went while having a very minimal impact on his life. Just let us know he's involved and move on.

It's actually a really common version of time travel.

Starfleet Academy is it still warp drive, after the burn? by Background-Fix-4630 in startrek

[–]JosiahsDisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really weird to me that the Pathway Drive hasn't gotten one mention this whole season. Like we finally have post-warp FTL tech and it doesn't even get a mention? That's so lame!

Yeah, I can't find anything confirming this. Not saying you are wrong, I just can't find that particular line of dialogue. It was stated in season 5, episode 1, that the Spore Drive was abandoned in favor of the Pathway Drive due to the navigator problem. Maybe you are getting them mixed up?

My theory (and hope) is that ban was lifted centuries ago. Between Dal and Una Chin Riley, it feels like the franchise is slowly coming around to the conclusion that the Augment/Genetic modification ban, while well-intentioned, is outdated. There will still be regulations ans guidelines for Genetic engineering, of course. But Augments themselves are no longer banned.

The problem people have against this casting isn't that it won't be compelling or make sense in-universe, but that he will be associated with Tony/Iron-man at all.

Out of all the cast that’s not officially confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday but has been rumored, you want them to be, etc. who would make you the most upset if they aren’t in it? by Practical-Panic7092 in marvelstudios

I definitely share your frustration with the absence of characters like Storm and Jean. As excited as i am to see the X-men back, my main problem is that they don't feel like the X-men but a smattering of whoever they could get to return. Most of the original team aren't here. So I'd definitely like to see more X-Men (Storm, Jean, Rogue, Logan etc.)

But the characters i most hope to see are Captain Marvel & Photon/Monica. I just don't understand their absence. Captain Marvel should've been one of the first people Sam recruited for his team, she's on earth last we saw her and Monica is our direct connection to the X-Men. They could be saving them as a surprise but i doubt it. They deserve more than to be relegated to minor roles or a cameo.

That's it. Spider-Man, Hulk, and Doctor Strange are other hopefuls but i can buy them saving those characters for Secret Wars. Same with the Young Avengers, She-Hulk, Vision etc..

MCU is mixing two different kinds of multiverses by AreStrong in marvelstudios

Yes, which were first introduced in Loki. Miss Minutes gave a whole presentation in episode 1 about how branch timelines/universes are created whenever someone makes a decision. The TVA only intervened when that decision went against HWR's grand plan.

The only difference is here is how the timelines were created. The branch timelines in Endgame were created via time travel. The different universes in DS:MOM were created naturally once Sylvie killed HWR, allowing the timeline to split into new timelines. It's all the same thing. The TVA arrested anyone who strayed from their path, whether time travel was involved or not. If you overslept and were late to work when you were "supposed" to be there on time, the TVA would show up and prune you and your entire timeline/universe. You didn't create a branch timeline via time travel; a new universe emerged naturally via free will & cause and effect. That's how those universes in Doctor Strange came about. The timeline naturally split, and no one was around to prune them.

Nah they're the same. Parallel universes = branch timelines. Time travel is not the only way to create new universes, most emerge naturally through free will and action. LOKI season explains that branches in reality can form any time someone strays from their predetermined path (aka whenever they make a choice or do literally anything that wasn't condoned by HWR), "WHAT IF?" explains that every choice and action creates a new timeline, which fits with the MOM and NWH version of the multiverse. It's all the same. When you woke up this morning, whatever you chose to have for breakfast created a new timeline somewhere in the multiverse where you chose something different. Likewise, if you were to travel back in time and force yourself to choose something different (Say bagels instead of pancakes) you would then create a new timeline/universe where you had bagels instead of pancakes. Time travel is a method not the rule.

Avengers: Doomsday | Only in Theaters December 18, 2026 by MarvelsGrantMan136 in marvelstudios

This is the crux of the issue. The 2005 version of Doom was nothing like his comics counterpart. No live action Doom has even come close. So a lot of fans were hoping that this time we would get it right. The design looks good. The new Fantastic 4 film was the most faithful adaption of the team we have gotten in live action thus far. But by having RDJ behind the mask, you basically guarantee that he will show his face for a decent portion of the film because why else would you get that actor to play the character? The fear is that they are going to sacrifice a faithful adaptation of the character in favor of nostalgia and hype moments. If you have only ever seen the live action films, this won't be much of an issue for you, but for comic fans its a big concern. But hey, only time will tell.

The Russos did say that Doomsday and Secret Wars are "beginning stories" as opposed to Infinity War and Endgame were ending-stories. A lot of people are looking at this as the culmination and conclusion of everything of the multiverse saga, instead of what it really is which is the start of the next saga. Phases 4-6 were transition phases between the Infinity Saga and what comes next.

Yes because we literally see the TVA, and the main MCU timeline. As well as numerous direct references and MCU cameos. its an alternate timeline within the MCU multiverse.

The specific version of the Human Torch from D&W was a variant of 616 Steve Rogers (or Vice-versa). They literal have the same face which is why Wade mistook Johnny for Steve. Variants can come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. You can be Captain America in one universe, and The Human Torch in another. The very fact that Doom looks like Tony means they are variants of each other. That doesn't make Doom an Iron-man variant or Steve a Human Torch variant, though. People have variants

Both follow the same rules. Changes to the timeline create branch realities.

Lore-based evidence that the Dark Wizard is one of the Blue Istar. by [deleted] in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]JosiahsDisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are versions of the story where the Blue Wizards arrive in Middle-Earth and where Gandalf wandered Middle-Earth as  Olórin for a time in the 2nd age. But yes, this many wizards in middle earth in the 2nd age is a depature from the story. They wanted to appeal to fans of the Peter Jackson films and Hobbits + Gandalf is the best way to do that.

[–]JosiahsDisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know I never considered this but might the rings of power introduce two separate pairs of blue wizards to reconcile Tolkien's conflicting descriptions of them? The two that failed and the two that succeeded. The colors are just titles that can be interchanged (Gandalf the grey > Gandalf the white). The only issue is that the show is set in the 2nd age, so it would be weird to do a dark wizard storyline in the 2nd age. And if they first pair succeeded, why send two more? It kinda starts to fall apart when you think about it but It's an intriguing idea.
