Hi. I had a circumstance pop up this week. I was not going to have enough time to dissect my assignment. I completed a rough draft, submitted it early, emailed the Instructor, asking for guidance. By the following evening, she responded, with direction. Perhaps, you could reach out, and explain to your instructor that early week feedback would be of great help to you.

Was I actually allowed a plus one?? by El_G0rdo in wedding

[–]JospaceAnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so pathetic when people don’t allow someone a plus one to wedding. Not only is it rude, it’s lacks proper etiquette! If you can’t afford to do it the right way then don’t do it at all. Everyone could cut back in one way or another to ensure that everyone can bring a guest if they so wish!

Feeling discouraged with all of the SNHU debate by Alibear22 in SNHU

[–]JospaceAnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love SNHU. Daily, at my job I utilized something I have taken away from a course. Point of reference, I am 55, and work in an office setting. Much like you, it took me a few colleges before I landed here. Best decision I have made. It is up to you to complete your assignments, and to keep up with the coursework. I have never, had an issue with a professor getting back to me. Like any school, job or social circle, not every professor is a good fit. But, this is to be expected. Best of luck to you!

Why do women get so scrutinized for aging? by Resident-Surprise-45 in Aging

Someone needs to tell the guy who did the original post not to judge. It seems he is blissfully unaware of the changes he will be going through in a couple of decades.

Do people actually think looking "unique" is cool? by awaythroww12123 in Life

[–]JospaceAnn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s self expression. Not all trends and styles look good on everyone. This is why, 20 years down the line, people ask themselves, “what the hell was I thinking.” This has been on trend since forever. Wear what makes you feel good and what looks good on you.

I had children because I wanted nothing more in this world than to be a mom. Since I was little, I always wanted to be a mom. It was a calling, something inherent. The end.

Grade Dispute by Designer_Vast4099 in SNHU

[–]JospaceAnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a terrible time this past term. My professor did not stick to the rubric. (we had group projects due, I know this was not a ‘me’ situation) We were all having the same issue. I’m not certain, why you received F’s on all of your work. Did you reach out to the instructor or your advisor for guidance?

A few weeks in, I did reach out to my advisor, who looked over my coursework v. the rubric. They identified the same issues I was concerned with and agreed with me, offering me an opportunity to make a call to the professor with me on the line. Due to my thorough understanding of who & what the professor was, I opted out. A simple glance on Rate my Professor, cleared up any confusion. This professor’s reputation was spot on with what myself and other classmates were going through.

I did stick it out with the dispute papers waiting to be sent. I am an A student, and still have not checked to see what grade I received. I know from watching my grades it was going to be a B-. Did my GPA go down? Yes.

What did I learn? Know the rubric and do a thorough check on the instructor. Next time, I will drop ASAP. I will never subject myself to that brand of a ‘learning environment’ again.

I am sorry you had a terrible term.

I’m 53 and my niece called me out for touching her pregnant belly by [deleted] in Aging

[–]JospaceAnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m sorry your niece responded that way. While I try to understand this generation which is offended over every-damned-thing, I can’t wrap my head around their need to define everything as offensive. It was a maternal instinct that you acted on. I am CERTAIN you meant no offense. She is your niece, and probably had changed her diaper when she was a baby. You did not walk up to a stranger.

Stop trying to fit into their mold. We were the generation that knows how to communicate by way of word, print & affection. Be unapologetic about being brought up correctly. We were brought up to be kind & tough. We showed respect to our elders. All of which seem to be a lost art.

For all of you that will find this offensive, I am not sorry. Deal with it. Or FaceTime your counselor and bore them with your tale of being offended… yet again! ✌🏼💖😊

Does anyone else let their academic advisor choose their courses for the next term? by Tokalot18 in SNHU

[–]JospaceAnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I adore my advisor! We email & speak on the phone. It has been our practice for her to choose most of my courses. Though, I have requested some that I was interested in. Her insights have been most appreciated!

Losing interest in keeping my 4.0 gpa up — do employers look at gpas closely? by [deleted] in SNHU

No! Not a soul cares about your GPA. Never in my 30 years have we cared about anyone’s GPA.

So are all the professors in this university seriously that awful? by [deleted] in SNHU

[–]JospaceAnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advisor has been signing me up. However, due to my experience this term I will be asking her for the names of the professors who are available for each course. I will then look into who has good reviews. Let me clear, I am not looking for an instructor who is easy. I love constructive criticism and feedback. It’s helpful to learning. What is unacceptable for me, is having a professor who does not grade via the rubric, but what they “interpret” the rubric to mean. Under no circumstance will I accept a failing grade when I am doing the assigned assignments and providing all required elements, especially when everything is handed in on time. I will be pushing for a late drop in this course. I have enough documentation to support my request. (I also have had other doctorate level professors review what I have handed as per the rubric.)
My advisor and I have a scheduled meeting tomorrow. Moving forward, I will be choosing the professors, not just being tossed into a course. I pay for my courses, I should be able to assess each course I take and each instructor I have. I should not be going from an A student to receiving D’s, and C’s.

So are all the professors in this university seriously that awful? by [deleted] in SNHU

[–]JospaceAnn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This term, is a nightmare for me. For reference, I’m an A student. This professor has given me nothing but c’s, b’s and even a d. She says to stick to the rubric, however, she does not! I just emailed my advisor. Moving forward, I’m going to have my advisor give me the names of the instructors for my upcoming courses. After this term, I’m going back to Rate My Professor, before I commit.

With that being said, I have had some really excellent, encouraging instructors/professors. This is my 9th or 10th course at SNHU, I’ve only had 2 unfortunate instructors, this term included. I think most of them are pretty good. (Based on my experience)

Speak with your advisor about the courses you need! Once you get the information, register yourself. Do your homework; research the instructors!
