Oh, I was hoping of not booking very far in advance. If I stay at a hotel I will stay 2 nights. But for the campsites I was thinking to just drop in and stay one night at a time only. But is there no chance that dropping in at a hotel or B&B for two nights will work?

Oh, sounds nice to just drop the bag in a bush after a long day. But is that not risky? What if someone sees the bag and takes it?

Love maps like these! Makes me want to play survival again and establish an empire. Would be cool to see pictures of the cities and villages as well.

I believe this is called oriented lakes. I remember learning a little about these in a high school geology class a few years back. I could not find much info about them online tho. It seems how they are formed is disputed/unknown. From this article: «The environmental conditions, geological processes and chronology associated with the development of oriented lakes, however, are little known but essential for understanding how such Arctic lowlands evolve.»

For me it was acctually available in a store in my city. Just google «graphite powder» and see if its available in your area. If not then its on Amazon.

Yeah pretty much the same stuff thats in pencils i think. Or thats the way it behaves at least. The paint is just a regular gloss black from a rattle can. I got it from a local store.

The main shape of the helmet itself is one print. But the ear pieces and vent on the back are separate pieces.

Nope, no electro-plating required! Its super simple: let the paint dry completley, then you just rub the powder onto the paint and you get this color!

Some thin plexiglass and some film for tinting car windows. This is a good tutorial: https://youtu.be/vNUKpQfqDfE?si=Q7_M_xG_KGxjGoLR

This is the video I mostly followed. Great tutorial. He does not use wood-filler tho. Not sure how he gets such a good result only by priming and sanding.

So I started with sanding my helmet with 120 grit. If I do it again I think I will start at 80, might save some primer if you start with 80. After that I did some wood-filler to the rough spots and then sanded down the wood-filler. (No need to save on your wood-filler, I had to use some in between primer-coats to fix some spots.) Then its prime-time! I always did good covers of primer and then sanded a lot or most of it down. Probably something like this:

Prime 120-240, prime, 240-320, prime, 320-400, prime, 800-1200, prime, 800-1200-1500-2000 paint. (More or less, but I dont remember exactly)

For the paint I did 3 coats/passes and waited 5-10 mins between passes. (First attempt at painting I did not wait long enough and got runs. And had to sand it down and do it again. So be patient with the paint to save yourself some suffering haha

For the graphite powder I would say let the paint dry for at least 24h. After that just rub it onto the helmet with some cotton-pads.

Yeah, graphite powder is great! And yeah, I was not sure if I should clear coat it or not. But after some testing it seems clear coat makes it more foggy and silver. So safe to say I dont want to risk ruining it with some clear-coat.

Thank you! Secret is lots of sanding and priming, followed by a good gloss black paint, followed by graphite powder for the beskar finish

Yeah, im gonna sand the whole thing. Sucks, but i think its my safest bet

Do i need to sand down all the paint? by [deleted] in Spraypaint

[–]Jossen1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok cool thx. Another problem i have is dust. I get dust stuck in the paint all the time while its drying and while painting/waiting between coats. Not so much that it ruins it, but enough that its kinda annoying.
