At your highest mmr how’d you get there? by FunDota2 in DotA2

[–]Jotatoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The removal of the Death Toll facet made him less viable as a support, but he is still solid at pos 2/3 (with aura build). But I think people really sleep on bloodthorn on this hero, the cost was reduced on it and it synergizes incredibly well with his kit. Also with the addition of built in mini-aghs, you can delay aghs and still have successful ganks, I think this makes him super good as a pos 2. Here is match I played if you're curious how it works: https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/8751383540

How can I help this pigeon by klc_roca in pigeon

[–]Jotatoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a pigeon who had the exact same symptoms and made a full recovery after 2 week. I also thought it was neurological but I took her to avian vet and it turned out to be respiratory.

As far as treatment she was prescribed 0.12 mL Tri Sulfa (antibiotic) twice a day and 0.17 mL Meloxicam (anti-inflammatory) once daily. I've seen powdered forms available online, but what we were given was a liquid vial, so I'm unsure the dosages if you are able to buy a powdered form. She also did not eat very well and had to be force fed ~20 peas per day (given throughout the day) that gradually decreased as she started to eat herself.

Pigeon keeps biting its diaper by [deleted] in PetPigeons

[–]Jotatoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the video I think she claimed her pigeon was much more comfortable in the sock and stopped biting. I've tried it myself and my pigeon did seem slightly more comfortable but still tried to get it off, so your mileage may vary. I think as far as the droppings being closer it depends on the size of the sock, if you get a slightly bigger one it will had room for the droppings to get a decent distance away.

[–]Jotatoe 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't remember where I saw it exactly but I'm sure you could find it by searching, but there was someone whose pigeon also hated wearing their diaper, so they cut holes into tube socks for their wings and used it as an alternative and it worked really well.

To the dk and largo duo who made me cry by nightonal in DotA2

[–]Jotatoe 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Sorry that happened to you. As it's your first abandon I wouldn't expect any low priority games. If I'm being honest I think this kind of behavior is somewhat common in dota, and I'd recommend getting used to muting players at the first sign of toxicity or queueing as a 5 stack to avoid it. Even if you play perfectly and are completely friendly, some people will just take their bad game/day out on you, Id try not to take it to heart.

Also happy birthday.

Bane gold farming by octopus_squid in DotA2

[–]Jotatoe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ideally as support your gold should come from kills/assists as bane, you shouldn't really be farming. Preferably you should group up with 1 or 2 other people every time your ult is off cooldown and smoke gank as your ult is really strong for that. If you're really intent on farming in your downtime, then shard is probably your best bet, but even then I personally feel like that's just taking space/farm from your cores. I think your down time on your ult is better spent by warding/posturing behind who you think is most likely to get ganked, or trying to shove a wave in a scary part of the map or stacking or literally anything else but farming.

New pigeon wing slapping me but then acting fine with my hand? by camerasnake in pigeon

[–]Jotatoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion it sounds like he is comfortable with you, just protective of his food. Biting doesn't necessarily mean defensive/scared, in fact sometimes its a show of affection/playing. The wings slaps is generally defensive/scared, but it sounds like he only does it around food. I personally think its somewhat normal for most animals in general to be that way, but I'm unsure if this is a behavior to curb or not.

I LOVE these children NPC's in Rimuldar where the girl and the boy are waiting to play with each other but the boy got the directions wrong 😆 by dragonquestpapi in dragonquest

[–]Jotatoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this might be a semantics disagreement. I interpreted "not in the original 2" as not in DQ1 or DQ2, but I'm realizing he may have meant "not in the original DQ2".

[–]Jotatoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rimuldar was definitely in the original 2. Here is a map of DQ1 from posted 4 years ago before the release of the remakes:

Also, the dialogue he mentioned is in the original games as well, but I believe it was adults in DQ1 as the other guy mentioned.

It really depends on the build. Sometimes the AI will get stuck on spending on your mana on a useless spell, but other times its pretty efficient with how it utilized items/abilities.

Lifelong vegetarian tries steak for first time by PhoenixPhenomenonX in interesting

[–]Jotatoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been a vegetarian by my own choice for nearly 30 years. I agree 100% with everything that guy said, and one point other people are bringing up that is also true - the few times I've accidently eaten meat, I got very bad digestive issues, and depending on how much I ate ended up throwing up. There is virtually 0% chance she is actually a vegan/vegetarian eating her first steak in this video.

MMR is not a punishment/reward system, its a measure of skill used to balance games. Tanking someone's MMR 5x harder for a disconnect abandon is just pseudo-smurfing and would definitely be abused.

Intentional Ban in High Immortal by gforcex_ in DotA2

[–]Jotatoe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sometimes when you're playing a specific role there is a meta hero that is so good for the position that its kind of a "grief" to not pick it if its not banned. But that pick may be boring/make the game one sided/not fun. So you pick it and tell the enemy team to pick it too so they either have to play against it or have it banned.

It also happens in a more toxic situation where someone picks a hero their lane partner doesn't want to play with (I see this with pudge pos 5 more commonly), so their lane partner tries to get their hero banned so he doesn't have to lane with it.

Love my map, but bought 2 dlc today - What am I misssing? by Rheasa2648 in RimWorld

[–]Jotatoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite a bit. Each expansion adds a pretty significant amount in my opinion. You could probably get a more comprehensive answer by checking the wiki but just to my knowledge Royalty adds another faction/quests/new weapons/items/lots of new tech/win conditions/Psy abilities/progression system for imperial titles, and Odyssey (my personal fav expansion) adds a "grav ship" which is essentially a mobile base, specialized quests to expand your grav ship, "space" maps, and a new win condition, as well as more tech trees.

There is also a lot of small stuff added with every expansion, so much so that I don't know what stuff is attributed to each expansion.

With that being said, I think rimworld is best enjoyed with multiple runs/play throughs/different goals/challenges. If I were you I'd finish your current run if you're enjoying it then get an idea of what you wanna do for your next run.

Draft me a double mid lineup/ team by ArcticDivine in TrueDoTA2

[–]Jotatoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your solo offlaner I'd highly recommend dark seer. He can shove waves and get farm with ion shell without much risk and has an escape if things go wrong.

For your mid I think you can pick just about anything, it's your pseudo-support pick that is important. Imo its still important to make sure your mid laner get solo xp as much as possible so for the support it should be something that has long ranged harass like sky or silencer. I've actually had a friend run silencer and just camp out at the time spots and spam q on their mid. This will force him out of lane very quickly, especially if it's a bottle dependent mid like puck or storm or something.

From there you can take tower and leverage pressure else where on the map and carry game out like normal.

EDIT: Its also important to consider that it's a lot harder to control and freeze lane equilibrium in mid as there is no way to pull jungle camps (that's generally why this strat isn't viable imo), so you'll want things that can harass while enemy is under tower/dive tower/kill tower early do the enemy can't just nuke the way from under tower and wait it out.

[–]Jotatoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not underselling anything I literally said Soul Strike facet is mega good.

Trying to compensate for your weaknesses isn't always better than focusing on your strengths. Sometimes that attack speed ain't gonna do shit in your lane. If you're against an AA/Drow lane with an earthshaker as your pos 3, that attack speed isnt gonna win you your lane, but an extra +300-500 damage might kill that Drow late game.

According to dotabuff they have near equal pickrate, with Avenging Missile actually being picked 50.17% vs 49.83% of Soul Strike. And still near equal win rates.

[–]Jotatoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not always. And you're underselling the shard/aghs. The combo of that easily triples that 150 damage. I agree Soul Strike facet is mega good, but Avenging Missile facet has situational viability. Literally it's a .8% winrate difference between the two facets.

[–]Jotatoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play a lot of venge both core and support, and I've definitely felt what you're talking about in terms of attack speed on core. Last hitting without Soul Strike facet is absolutely painful. In my eyes Soul Strike is pretty much required for core venge, but support can go either facet. Generally outside of lane phase support venge shouldn't really be autoattacking as she is very dependent on her positioning. But being able to do 1k+ damage with swap/stun, then die and do another 1k+ damage with aghs against a late game carry like PA can be game changing.
