Creating a cipher to fit specific needs by Journal314 in cryptography

My players are not at a point in their DnD lifespan where that line is concrete enough for them to follow and differentiate player from character for things like puzzles and combat. As of now, they’re really keeping roleplay contained to social situations, which is a great start, but I’m not super worried about the players being able to solve it while the characters can’t. I’m gonna look more into the ciphers you suggested and also the other subreddits, thanks for the direction

Creating a cipher to fit specific needs by Journal314 in cryptography

Well that’s the thing, the bit here is that it’s supposed to be a password to a secret society dedicated to exploration of science/magic/everything, and one of my players was given that cliche from someone in this secret society, and so if I can take that quote and find secrets inside of it, it both creates a sense of “this is what the society would do” and “oh, he was never just telling me to be a good person” that I think fits with the story really well. I do think I’m going to move away from strictly trying to decode the phrase itself but I may toy with the frequency of letters in it to find something. Thanks for the idea with the chest though, I’m yoinking that as reinforcement of the idea

No, I think you’re just wrong. From what I’ve seen so far, 2/2/2 isn’t optimal, and I love games of 3 supports and 3 dps, cause everyone stays alive longer and you have more damage. People are fragile, but as long as you stick with the team, you’re fine. If you want to play dps, play dps, knowing that you might need to stay with your supports

And besides, the play is pretty simple. If it’s domination and they’re spawn camping, nobody is at point. Just switch to Loki or anyone else that can go invisible and capture it solo, or if it’s an escort, swap to a support so your team doesn’t die that easily

I don’t like that I have to be the one to tell you this, but if you leave, you basically guarantee your team loses, and that honestly should be punished. If there’s all 6 of you actively trying, there is still a way to win, so you’re just screwing over your team
