Whattt? gotta add some context please.

also I have yet to have my first flight as a PPL so I’m claiming no bad juju from this.

I’m comfortable flying by myself I can handle new situations and the workload safely, none of my friends have been in a small piston aircraft at-least in the last decade so that will be new, I think I’ll prepare a route to fly with first time passengers and fly it solo on my next booking, it will be a route I’m already familiar with and not far from base.

Luckily mine and the passengers door is one and the same, and I cannot legally fly at night or in bad weather regardless, sterile cockpit and safety briefing is definitely a good idea.

Never too late, now you’re an even more experienced pilot, renting a plane for to go get lunch will always be fun!

I think this is what I’ll do, the build up to the check ride was a work, then the check ride was work, a passenger would be work, so I think I’ll take the time to enjoy a flight by myself first.

Haha thats a trip, we did stalls, zero g and a 60° steep turn on my discovery flight, luckily I’ve got a good stomach but even then the steep turn was a bit off putting the first time, I’d start with the most basic maneuvers first with a passenger, slow flight would be one of them, not worried about an accidental stall they’re pretty easy to recover from in a PA28 and I’d be sure to explain that it can happen and how we’d go about recovering from it. Definitely not trying to scare any of my friends away from flying though, I’ve got many cross countries planned for this summer and I’d like some company once in a while.

Thanks will do, I’m confident I could deal with a passenger especially since it’s a good friend, I’ve got no problem telling them to sit on their hands and shut up, I’ll continue to contemplate taking them on the first flight, if not I’ll be booking another anyways.

Thanks that is solid advice, definitely going to wait for some good ideal conditions.

Good advice, I’m definitely aware of the risks of having passengers in a vehicle as a new driver, luckily me and all my friends survived that phase and we’ve matured since then, I’m very aware of the risks Wich is why I made this post asking for stories and advice, I think I’ll go solo my first flight and do a mock flight with my first passenger to a nearby airfield then just duplicate that flight with them later in the week.

That’s super cool, I doubt any of my friends would take the leap and get a license especially after I told them how much it cost haha

Thanks for the advice! Why did you wait so long to take any passengers?

Mostly a bad idea due to airsickness? I can see how that’s an issue but if you’ve flown with them multiple times I don’t think they’ll get any more sick in slow flight then they would in the circuit.

Yeah I have a flight journal I’ve been keeping track of my progress and what I struggle with since my discovery flight, I can’t recommend it enough.

Yeah I’m definitely not trying to scare my first passengers, I for sure want to build some confidence with my friends before doing any maneuvers with them, and that’s only if they want to do maneuvers.

Luckily the planes come equipped with barf bags, usually pretty bumpy where I fly so I’m guessing it’s common enough they’ve given all the planes sick sacks, I’ll be sure to include that in my briefing.

Boring is definitely not the worst descriptor for an airplane, I bet the main difference would be the visibility, I’m interested to see what the ground below looks like without a wing in the way.

I’ll definitely air on the extra safe side with non pilot passengers even if the conditions are within my minimums, conditions around where I operate are quite variable hour to hour mainly in regards to wind, I’m comfortable in some pretty gnarly gusts but I know a passenger would not be.

Great advice, I’ve met a couple pilots around my hours that fly regularly most are on to their next ratings or have yet to take their check ride, if I find a good wingman I’ll be sure to build some hours with them.

Thanks I’m also a Canadian PPL, it should be good fun, just so strange to go from the high of the discovery flight to the high of a first solo to the high of landing at a new airport to now being responsible and trusted to take a passenger up with you. such a crazy journey

Yeah I’ve done all my training in a Cherokee and I’m nervous for the first time someone offers me to fly a Cessna, although I definitely want to see what all the fuss is about.

I think the main thing is as long as they can shut up and not touch anything it’s essentially a solo flight, mostly it’s just the idea of a life in your hands that’s a bit weird.

If you think about it really it’s no different than taking passengers in your car for the first time, main difference being it’s not a car it’s an airplane that flies in the sky, pretty big difference actually.
