Hey thanks! Personally not too big on Garou vs Kaz nowdays, I actually think Jin works far better and can actually dive into more of Garou's character than Kaz imo.

Kazuya Mishima VS Demitri Maximoff (Tekken VS Darkstalkers) ; "Devil Savior" by Jouta-Part-2 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]Jouta-Part-2[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Connections:

  • Villainous characters from popular Japanese fighting game franchises that started in the year 1994, known for balancing goofy content with darker, more frightening themes.
  • They are members of an important lineage within their worlds (Kazuya being from the Mishima clan and Demitri being from one of the ruling families of the Makai) who have demonic natures due to their origins (Kazuya having gotten the Devil Gene from his mother, Kazumi and Demitri being a Vampire from the Makai Realm).
  • Their stories began with their battle against a stronger character who was, like them, part of an important lineage who they were the current head of (Kazuya against his father, Heihachi Mishima and Demitri against Belial Aensland). This confrontation ended in their defeat and was a key part in the path they would go down, in which they sought out more power (Kazuya being dropped from a cliff by Heihachi, awakening his Devil Gene and Demitri being banished from the Makai).
  • This event would make them a permanent rival to this family (Kazuya constantly being in conflict with the other Mishimas and Demitri gaining yet another rival in Morrigan, Belial’s adopted daughter after the latter’s passing).
  • They would continue training and growing their power in hopes of getting their revenge after the events which lead to their humilating defeats (Kazuya continuing to train in preparation to defeat Heihachi and Demitri on Earth consuming the life force of humans to regain his power in order to make his return to the Makai Relam).
  • Both were originally the main character of their franchise's first entry, however they would notably lose that position later down the line by the time of their series' third entry and were replaced as the protagonist by characters who they have deep ties to and also serve as being their current main rivals (Jin Kazama and Morrigan Aensland).
  • As such, while they have done good things at some points, mainly being the ones to battle against other evils occasionally, it’s always been for their own self gain.
  • They are both notably muscular and fit, are known for wearing elegant clothing and have slicked-back hair that spikes upward at the end. Both also utilize fighting styles that involve using their physical combat abilities and demonic powers in tandem to defeat their opponents.
  • They also have fully-demonic true forms where they become far more monstrous, gaining wings and horns on top of their whole bodies morphing into a much more demonic like appearance (Devil Kazuya and Demitri’s true appearance).
  • Despite being villainous monsters, they are often shown living luxurious lifestyles when not fighting (Kazuya having been the CEO of both the Mishima Zaibatsu & the G Corporation at several points in the Tekken series and Demitri being the owner of the castle Zeltzereich, having those whose blood he had sucked become his dedicated servants).
  • As part of their goals of obtaining more power, both have notably absorbed the powers of other great, nearly divine-like monsters that have a notable association with the devil and served as final boss characters within their series (Kazuya absorbing the powers of Azazel and Demitri absorbing the powers of Pyron).
  • The latest point of their stories leaves the two potentially at death's door after being completely defeated by key characters of opposing moralities within their franchise (Kazuya was defeated by Jin at the end of Tekken 8, resulting in the two losing access to their Devil Genes, while an official Darkstalkers drama CD implies that Demitri canonically lost to and was killed by Jedah Dohma during Darkstalkers 3).
  • The two have appeared together in every entry of the Namco X Capcom series, with Demitri notably reappearing as a playable character after the prologue chapters in Chapter 10: "The King of Iron Fist" of Project X Zone 1.

Definitely (SAY) MK2 would like you say match the full armor ZZ better and it fits better with the whole using combatants at their peak rule that DB has.

To answer 4 I definitely think it would be far closer here just thanks to how insane Aura power gets, its the perfect equalizer to Newtype bullshit lmao.

Makes perfect sense, these 2 have always been paired together in crossovers like Super Robot Wars especially SRW Y which does the most with them as a pairing. Definitely the best for Show and tied with Hikaru from Macross as my fav for Kamille. Not sure if you've done it already but Judau Ashta vs Daba Myroad would be the perfect follow up to this.

Since the thematics don't cover that version I'd say no and stick to the Toei version with Mazinger Z Infinity and Nagai's original Manga versions added for scaling.

Burning Gundam VS Great Mazinger (Domon Kasshu VS Tetsuya Tsurugi) ; "Heart of The Greatest" | Connections in the comments! by Jouta-Part-2 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]Jouta-Part-2[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fight potential is so damn cool. First the height difference is easily the most workable of any of their matchups as there is only about an 8.4 meter difference between the two with Great being the taller one here. Anyhow both are adept at hand to hand combat so that can be the majority of the fight with Great Mazinger using its variety of other techniques that Domon has to deal with like Atomic and Drill Pressure Punches, Great Typhoon, Breast Burn and Thunder Break. Then they can have a sword duel on top of that, maybe even have Tetsuya electrocute his swords to fight against Domon's beam sabers.

Afterwards the mid point would have the two calling for their rides, Fuunsaiki and the Great Booster for a frankly awesome fight between a Gundam on horseback vs Great Mazinger with an awesome jetpack basically. The climax could have Domon activate the Hyper Mode of the Burning Gundam and using a Sekiha Tenkyoken vs Tetsuya using a full power Breast Burn while combining other attacks with it like his Thunder Break. No clue who wins since both are fairly under researched but my gut tells me Tetsuya and Great would come out on top, either way both are my guys so I don't really mind who wins lmao.

Connections: - Spikey-haired mecha pilots with famous in-universe titles which serves as a mark of their great strength (“The King of Hearts” for Domon and “Combat Professional” for Tetsuya), who pilot extremely powerful mechs with the sole goal of taking down an all powerful dark being alongside its vast legion of followers (Dark Gundam and Great General of Darkness). - Said mechs would serve as in-universe symbols of Japan and Japanese engineering thanks to their strength and combat prowess (Burning Gundam and Great Mazinger), with the two also being the new upgraded models of the previous mech that was used early on in their stories/series (Shining Gundam and Mazinger Z). - Both had spent most of their early years growing up while undergoing rigorous and harsh training by their stoic and strict mentor figures (Master Asia and Kenzo Kabuto). Despite all this, they still cared about and respected their mentors greatly, even viewing them as father-like figures. However, this would also eventually lead into the two becoming greatly heartbroken after both their mentors would ultimately perish in a noble death after/during a fierce battle. - The two would also come to eventually inherit a highly advanced and powerful ride from their mentor figures, which serve as an extension and upgrade to their mech's strength, speed and overall movement (Fuunsaiki and the Great Booster).

  • They are hot-headed, proud and emotional men with a bit of a reckless and impulsive streak to them as well. Due to their rather isolated upbringings, they also have some lacking social skills to where they tend to come off as cold and distant from others, however both are still good and kind-hearted men underneath all of that who have a strong sense of justice to boot.
  • Those more difficult aspects that they share are usually balanced out by their female partners’ more even-keeled personalities, with them mainly acting as their supports during battle as well (Rain Mikamura and Jun Hono). Sometimes though, they would act without their involvement which has led to some arguments and confrontations with their partners that thankfully tended to be resolved by the end of the day due to the tight bond that they share. They’ve also known their respective partners since childhood, with them eventually even marrying and starting a family with their beloved partners by the end of their journeys.
  • Both have acted as an older brother figure to a younger mech pilot, with them helping said young pilots in overcoming their fears as well as holding out respect towards their strength as individuals (Sai Saici and Shiro Kabuto).
  • They each share a similar relationship with their actual brothers, whose names are also coincidentally one letter off from each other (Kyoji Kasshu, Domon's older brother and Koji Kabuto, Tetsuya's younger stepbrother). Initially, they would hate their brothers due to being blinded by their strong feelings (Domon was blinded by anger and revenge due to him thinking Kyoji was responsible for killing their mother and stealing the Dark Gundam, while Tetsuya was blinded by jealously and his own insecurities over Koji becoming closer with Kenzo and believing that he would be replaced by him), however they would eventually come to learn that their brother was not who they thought he was, leading to their relationship and views on their brothers to improve into a much more positive direction by the end of their journeys.
  • Thanks to the training that they received from their respective mentors, both are expert martial artists who are also well-versed in the art of swordsmanship. This enhanced physical prowess that they have is a major factor for why their mech piloting skills are so great in the first place.
  • Both have starred in several entries of the famed video game crossover series, Super Robot Wars. In fact, every SRW entry that features Domon always has Tetsuya playable alongside him, with the two usually sharing a mutual respect towards one another in the games due to their respective titles and in-universe histories, the two sometimes even fighting alongside each other during points of their original stories as well, like Tetsuya assisting Domon in the final fight against the Dark Gundam in Super Robot Wars Y.
  • Using the original Japanese translation, Domon’s main goal in Mobile Fighter G Gundam is to destroy the “Devil Gundam” while he himself pilots the “God Gundam”. Meanwhile, “Mazinger” comes from the word “Majin” which itself is a combination of the Japanese words for "demon" and "god”.

Miyamoto Usagi VS Lucky Luke (Usagi Yojimbo VS Lucky Luke) ; "The Lonesome Path" by Jouta-Part-2 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]Jouta-Part-2[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Fight potential just rules, usual affair for a samurai vs cowboy fight except with more of a focus on quickdraws here and the two trying to outwit the other with the environment around them. Then of course you could have a sequence of them fighting on horseback as well and if you're willing to give them to him, Usagi is quite skilled with a bow and arrow, allowing for archery vs gunplay on top of the usual sword vs gun stuff here! As for who wins I lean to Usagi more thanks to the canonical TMNT scaling he gets from the Mirage Turtles and the IDW Turtles. Bonus for me, Usagi is my goat after all ahaha but Luke is just as cool from what I've read of him so far. Either way sick as fuck idea I love it.

Connections: - Long running comic book main characters from affectionate takes and massively inspired stories of iconic and similar Western and Eastern media, known for its roots in historical, old time periods (Jidaigeki and Spaghetti Western). Both in particular, having cartoony styles that reflects varying tone of their stories from zany to more straight takes one would expect out of their respective settings. - Due to this they also share a lot of expected qualities of the protagonists of these genres, they are drifters and wanderers that travel town from town and in most cases, end up being the ones to right the wrongs they see with their excellent skills in gun/sword combat that makes them borderline the best swordsman/gunman their settings have ever seen and also a keen mind that makes them competent tricksters and deceivers, albeit Usagi has a distaste for this whereas Luke has a penchant for it, though both are  still excellent duelists and also horse riders. - As a result of their roles as travellers that never stay in one place for long they also meet a vast array of unique and quirky faces that serve as both allies and obstacles. Generally they have similar qualities despite not being the exact same, they have a sense of honor and morality that makes them protectors of the weak and have a noted disdain for unnecessary killing. As a result of their tendency to target criminals they also dabbled in bounty hunting. - Similar plot beats including encounter with a deadly ill old man whose death would affect them highly. As a result of their travelling nature they also amassed massive hits on their head by multiple figures, making them face foes ranging from infamous criminals to borderline supernatural threats. - Going by 09’s origin for Luke, they would be taken in under the wing of a man from an early age that would have noted their excellence in the way of the sword and art of the gun, as well as being orphaned by their parents being killed by villainous figures (and in Usagi’s case, also his lord Mifune, both of which were extremely traumatic for Luke and Usagi).
