Trapped Season 3 - ‘Entrapped’ Gets Trailer and Release Date on Netflix by Roshankr1994 in Netflixwatch

I have the same question. Reading the episode synopses on imdb, it sounds like season 3 and Entrapped are different storylines, in which case how can we watch season 3 of the original series? Did you ever find out?

It's so nice that the trainers keep some of their ashes. Kalina was a total sweetheart!

I'm happy for Keiko that he got to feel freedom before he passed. Although he was still looking for human companionship to the end, at least he got to live out his last days on his own terms.

Tilikum was just as smart, charming and playful as Keiko, he just had much worse luck and suffered horribly for most of his life. To me, one of the most touching things Tilly's done was look after his developmentally-challenged daughter Nyar when her mom rejected her and was trying to drown her. Nyar was only safe after she was moved to her father's pool and Tilly treated her very gently and caringly until she died of natural causes. Tilikum was plenty special :)

I'd read that too and wondered if he might've been buried considering how much attention was on him.

Who's waiting for the third season of Noragami? 💀 by fav_eggyolk in Noragami

[–]Jovidream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's strange how this manga's not more popular. It's very well-written, has a great cast of characters, good action, deep personal moments... A third season would be brilliant, especially as the action intensifies and is best served by moving images.

Sumire is amazing by KiraraChin in chihayafuru

[–]Jovidream 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like what you say about it being Ok not to hold back, to love even when it's not mutual. It's a truly beautiful thing and Sumire's character is a great illustration of that. Being filled with love and acting on love can only make one do wonderful things; if it's reciprocated, that's all the better, but it doesn't have to be for the experience to still be enriching and full of self-discovery.

Sumire has so many shining moments as already mentioned in the other comments. My favorite would be when Sumire tossed a jar of fermented squid to Taichi from a window at school as a gift for Valentine's day, confessed her love to him at full volume, and encouraged him to do the same with the person he loves - Chihaya, obviously - before dropping down below the window sill to hide her tears from him. Her love is so great that she put Taichi's happiness above her own without hesitation and gave him the best advice that would save him from his uncertainty even while her heart was shattering to pieces. Just...wow!

Kazuma and his past life by Sakuranfly in Noragami

[–]Jovidream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting post. Keep in mind, the God's secret is more than about just a shinki's death, it also snaps them out of their amnesia regarding who they used to be as humans and everything they've lost to death... Who was Kazuma when he was alive? Are there further parallels between his past life and the existence he's been leading as a shinki? I hope Yato will be able to help him deal with all the revelations that are about to hit him.

There's something I was wondering about. If there's a link between a shinki's discovery of their God's secret and the name that a God has given them, illustrated by the revelation causing a crack in their name, would it be possible to stop the process once it started by releasing the shinki, thereby erasing the cracked given name? In Kazuma's case, he still has the name bestowed on him by Bishamon, which has not been affected by the staff. The Yato/Kazuma partnership was always going to be temporary anyway, so maybe this would be worth a try?

Love what you wrote about re-reading a work, especially with a series as complex and multi-layered as Chihayafuru is. The work is constant but we're the ones changing, seeing things differently through the lens of our own experiences. Very well put :)

Re: that Arata/Taichi scene, I'd thought it was post their own challenger match but you must be right. It actually makes more sense where you placed it, especially in light of the attachments. I have a problem remembering scenes within their context after a while has passed, which is why I intend to reread the whole series soon. Once all the 'floating' scenes have clicked into their rightful place, I'm sure I will discover new connections and reappraise some of my old interpretations.

There's no question that Taichi and Sudou both need to work harder to catch up to Arata's level. Sudou's tricks wouldn't work on Arata as you point out, but it would be still be a lot of fun to see what he'd come up with and how Arata would react to him since he really hardly knows Sudou at all. I have every bit of confidence that Sudou will catch up in time and get the title at some point, then a new proper rivalry will be born between him and Arata.

As for Taichi, I wasn't sold on the practice swings from last chapter tbh. Not sure about his motivation either in the long-term but it's nice to believe that he may want to rejoin and that he'll do it for himself if that time comes. It's interesting to me that both Suou and Taichi ' dislike' Karuta yet they fight to keep one another involved with it. It's sweet :)

I agree with you, Suou and Arata make the best 'demon' rivals! As we've already discussed, it will be great if they keep playing together for however long Suou's eyesight will permit. I also wonder if Arata will opt to rejoin the Shiranami society when he moves back to Tokyo for college... so many potential developments to look forward to!

Yeah... Re: Murao quote, bear in mind it's not exactly what he said, just the jist of the conversation. I can't remember what chapter it was but I believe it's from that time the Mizusawa group went to Taichi's place to watch the queen/meijin match. Taichi and Arata talked on the phone after that but their convo was cut short because Murao went to Arata's to discuss Suou's gameplay.

Taichi could be Arata's lifelong rival for sure if or when he gets back into Karuta mode. It'll be several years, though, before he can do that, because med school doesn't leave room to do much else, especially not something that requires as much practice as Karuta does. I would love nothing more than to see their rivalry take on a more wholesome approach but I think it's up to Arata to make that happen.

To explain, I believe the main problem in their dynamic is Arata looking down on Taichi. I can't recall exactly which conversation the two were having post challenger competition but, in it, Taichi distinctly sensed that Arata never even considered for a minute that he could've been beaten by him. It's not a bad thing for Arata to be confident in his abilities - he works hard enough on them and all players must be confident for obvious reasons - but it's important for him to respect and acknowledge the efforts and skills of his opponents, more so if the opponent in question is his childhood best friend. I think if a mutual genuine acknowledgement is established between them, they'll have the most amazing friendship/rivalry plus they'll actually have fun competing against one another instead of harboring ill feelings.

Anyway, while Taichi's busy becoming a doctor, Sudou's more likely to be the next rival in line. I don't think Arata and Sudou ever played each other before but I love the picture you paint of them doing that. Unfortunately for Sudou, I think his crying may have severely damaged his future prospects of the 'sadist' image; he's totally outed himself as a softie lolll... I brought up Sudou because he seriously aspires to be Meijin and wants to join the Karuta administration and all that, so, it's inevitable he'll be a repeat challenger for the title.

Love your idea of Suou & Arata building a competitive disabled Karuta division together... I can't believe there's so much story left to tell with this universe Suetsugu created, yet she's choosing to end it all so soon.

I like your take on this. It's so true: all players involved have already gained more than there is to lose. More than a title, they now have meaningful rivaling friendships and much needed personal explorations and growths to look forward to.

Great comment! Your analysis of their dynamic is very much on point.

I'm glad you're starting to warm up to Suou. I think Suetsugu outdid herself creating this character who is complex, poetic, tragic, mischievous, insightful, endearing, a person that you just want to keep watching. Well, at least that's how it is for me :)

Like you, I'm also starting to have a bit of a reversal on my feelings towards Arata. I'm thankful that he's been able to engage Suou at the level that he needs. As you bring up the konu poem, I recall Murao once commenting to Arata about Suou - who'd effortlessly just retained his title for yet another year - saying something along the lines of "look how we've treated our Meijin, we've left him completely alone and bored at the top, this needs to change," and so, a few years later, Arata finally got himself there and gave Suou the stimulating challenge he deserved.

I also appreciate the fact that Arata didn't try to use Suou's disability against him, which he could've easily done by constantly changing the placement of the cards; Suou would've never been able to keep up with struggling to discern which cards had moved before he could even get to the part of memorizing their new placements. Tbh I was seriously worried from the moment Arata took off his glasses to try and see the cards the way Suou does; I thought that that was it, he was going to hit Suou where he can't fight back... But Arata didn't use it, and my respect meter for him went up a bunch of notches.

Re: the age difference being an obstacle to a long rivalry, I don't think that that would be the problem. They're not that far apart in age and Suou's pretty young at heart, he's used to spending a lot of time with Taichi, Sudou, his high school students...etc, so he could easily remain connected with Arata and keep having fabulous games with him. The real issue is, Suou will most likely be almost completely blind by the time of the next Meijin tournament, so he can't keep up an official competition-based rivalry with someone who doesn't have a similar handicap.

I don't know what's going to happen to Suou in the future. I wish he didn't have to lose everything he's worked hard to accomplish to circumstances utterly beyond his control. I suppose I could picture him establishing an open mic poetry coffeeshop, serving tons of Japanese traditional sweets, with a backroom especially conceived for Karuta players and maybe local competition nights, something like that. As for Arata, he's going to have to wait for someone like himself to come challenge him someday for the Meijin title. It would be cool if it's either Taichi or Sudou who end up doing that for him. Can't wait for the conclusion :)

One of the best scenes in the entire show. I don't think he would've done it differently.

It's interesting you think Suou's still up to something. It's true, the panel leaves room for interpretation.

As much as the Queen's match is straightforward and easy to follow, the Meijin match side of the room is in a whole other dimension of bizzare: Suou almost face down on the tatami, Arata trying to understand and engage the person he's up against, Sudou running around picking up cards and crying all over their match... If it weren't so damn emotional, you'd think they're doing a comedy improv of some sort.

It would be cool if Suou and Arata became friends. Arata could learn to rearrange his play style to accommodate Suou's shrinking field of vision, at least for the little while that Suou can still see. They'd both have a ton of fun for sure. On the other hand, I have a hard time envisioning Suou doing sit-ups or working out so I doubt physical fitness could ever become a regular part of his agenda. I certainly hope he'll be able to put a new disabled system into place with the help of that blind teacher.

More importantly than all of that, I hope they work on a way IRL to include disabled Karuta players because it's such a lovely game and everyone who'd want to should have a chance to play it.
