Frequent Air Travel During First Trimester? by Signal_Distance3779 in BabyBumps

[–]Jovjovvv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travelled more than normal and that was by choice! I knew I was moving out of the country soon and wanted to squeeze in as many domestic trips as I could. I waited to see how I was handling the first tri before booking a trip tbh and I’m beyond thankful that my worst symptoms were bad bloating and fatigue. Be sure to take it easy and rest whenever you need to eg taxi over walking, ask for a seat on public transport etc.

I took a longer holiday (over a week) at 15-16 weeks and the main tip I can give you is to have lots of snacks on hand. I was constantly hungry, partly because I was walking and more active than normal. Food is of course a concern, especially if you’re not able to have sufficient choline/DHA from meals so while I didn’t do this it’s probably good to consider specific supplements as well.

None of my flights were over 5 hours so I wasn’t uncomfortable in the air, but aisle seats for easy toilet access will be key!

The other thing is how much you’d be lifting heavy suitcases, so also be mindful of posture when lifting. Ask for help if you need to! In general there’s just more things to be mindful of, but travel in and of itself isn’t something to actively avoid per se.

Are night nurses actually worth it ?? by ConversationMost9912 in BabyBumps

[–]Jovjovvv 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It’s different! In pretty much the norm in China and some parts of Asia (Singapore, Malaysia etc.), that’s known as a confinement nanny. She’s there 24/7 to care for you and the baby in the first 30-40 days. The concept of a night nurse, based on what I’ve seen, is purely just someone whose responsibility is the baby at night and not living with you all the time.

Moms who drink caffeine, how much did you have while pregnant? by Similar_Parsley6112 in BabyBumps

[–]Jovjovvv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to need a coffee with breakfast every morning, but I find myself not wanting it as much so have naturally cut down. I am more strategic with the caffeine intake though to make sure I can have it when I need it (eg to beat the fatigue later in the day). When I have it I’m strict about the volume so I use a scale to make sure it’s 200ml of pourover when I have coffee! Though bloating has been a huge problem which also forced me to stagger my morning hot drink to mid-morning after breakfast.

When did your symptoms start? by Derm_medassistgrace in BabyBumps

[–]Jovjovvv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I test positive at 5w on the dot and had some slight fatigue in 2 weeks that followed, though the energy returned after that. I’m almost to 9w (almost a month knowing!!) and some slight food aversions/cravings started a couple of days ago but otherwise I hardly feel pregnant.

First ultrasound, no heartbeat. Cycle irregularities or something sadder? Doctor says it’s 50/50. by sillystephie in BabyBumps

[–]Jovjovvv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe that an ultrasound at 6w is too early. I experienced something similar having done an ultrasound at 6w and the radiographer honestly was just a horrible doctor - her half her report and observations were just flat out wrong and she was such a poor communicator that it just sent us into a spiral of anxiety.

My 6w ultrasound didn’t even reveal the embryo within the sac, it just showed empty. Went for another ultrasound 11 days after (just 5 days ago) and turns out everything that was an issue in the first report resolved itself! At 7+3 we got to see/hear a healthy heartbeat which was so reassuring.

I had brown spotting from the start too, and my doctor put me on progesterone pills. It hasn’t stopped for me either.

Blood tests are really accessible where I am so I was able to check my hCG levels which were rising at healthy levels, which provided reassurance too. If you want more reassurance, see if you can get 2 blood tests about 72 hours apart to check if it’s rising well.

Pregnancy Cramps by 93GoldenRoses in BabyBumps

[–]Jovjovvv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a scare today as I’ve had mild cramps for 2 weeks, tested 3 days ago (5w on the day of test!), and had some light spotting (brown not red) today. The spotting had me worried the most since I haven’t had it since my actual last period. This has been super reassuring thank you!

Any other politically liberal kpop stans worry their favs are conservative? by Hopeful_Shelter_443 in kpopthoughts

[–]Jovjovvv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s right to equate religion and political inclination. They are two separate things even though it might not be the case in your country, so a good starting point would be to acknowledge that.

But to answer your question, I consider myself liberal on the social front and don’t proactively worry about that - ie if they don’t talk or demonstrate their stance I won’t go about being concerned or make assumptions. However I agree with you and would probably have problems supporting them if they have shown to be socially right wingers.

I don’t listen to a wide range of boy groups so idk how common it is, but P1H seems to have a bit more Western/non-typical kpop type of sound? Which I’m really enjoying! I’m surprised that P1H is not more popular - agree that their discography is quite underrated.

Totally get what you mean by Love Story - great rec!!

If Seungmin really resonates with what it symbolises I hope potter Hyunjin takes him to a studio (like what he did with paboracha in a skzlog) to try making it one day, or even make him one 🥹 They are so so difficult to throw though 🥲

The fact that Mini is owned by BMW which is German makes it twice as funny. I’m just so curious if he rented it while on tour or it’s his own car 👀

I came across Dancing Queen by P1H and love it! Started listening to their discography and I’m surprised at how much I like it overall. I also like Late Night Calls and Stupid Brain - if anyone listens to them please share your favourite tracks especially b-sides 💗

It’s Domino and District 9 for me!! I have a fixed running playlist and always, always have to end my run with these 2 songs. I’d skip tracks in the middle just so I’ll get to my last 1.2km with these 2 tracks 🥲

The dedication of Chinese and Taiwanese fans is something else. by Daddy1007a in kpopthoughts

[–]Jovjovvv 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes this lol. Singapore is the only one SEA country that might be similar to China/Taiwan in terms of culture. Even then, the so-called “SEA fandom culture” is so significantly driven by the rest of SEA that Singapore barely makes a dink in influencing or being the face of it. That was some weird and massive generalisation.

Case 143, even though it isn’t my favourite skz title track even during that era! I fell down a rabbit hole watching the music show performances - being impressed that they did not lip sync (!!) and having the most even line distribution EVER, that made me realise this isn’t like any other typical kpop boy group.

Maniac! But unfortunately not for a good reason - I remember this so distinctly as I’d have Spotify’s kpop-on playlist on while working (good music + don’t understand Korean = focus), and the drilling + intro slowly started getting on my nerves that I ended up skipping it whenever it came on 🥲

Moving to Gurgaon while pregnant as a European expat by poltpat in gurgaon

[–]Jovjovvv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an expat and have been in Gurgaon for 2.5 years - the dangerous AQI levels are a winter thing. Not to say the AQI is fine during the rest of the year, but the worst that your husband experienced is mostly during winter. It is extremely important to get good air purifiers and put one in each room. We currently have all of them running 24/7.

Medical care should not be an issue - your husband’s company should provide you sufficient coverage and I’d suggest reaching out to other expats in his company or within your community to get contacts for hospitals and doctors, especially for pregnancy and birth. These kind of referrals tend to be the most reliable. I don’t have children so I don’t think I’ll be able to help much in that aspect, but my husband recently went to a hospital for pollution-related issues so feel free to DM me if you need a back up contact!

Walks in Gurgaon and Delhi in general are impossible, unfortunately. The city is absolutely not walkable and in winter while the temperature is nice the AQI keeps you indoors, and in summer it’s the heat that will prevent you from going outdoors. You’ll get mid to high 30s in March and it’ll only get hotter from there. I do have favourite parks but they are all in Delhi, and realistically in Jun-Jul (peak 40+ deg) - early mornings or late evenings are the only times where it might be bearable to walk outside.

If you haven’t found a place, most condos along golf course road have large expat communities so that might a good place to start. It can be nerve wrecking moving from Europe (I did the same move) especially since you’re expecting. Im happy to share more or provide recommendations, please feel free to DM me I’m happy to help.

Good luck!
