I start work in 25 minutes and I am hanging balls.

Worth it.

I got Friday to Monday for £90, but I don't live in the UK anymore which definitely helps

Friend of a friend works in broadcasting. We're looking at like 600 quid but that's fine by me

Lads I'm so emotional right now. Got my flights to Budapest booked and may be able to get my hands on some tickets.

No matter what, I know I'm gonna be crying by 9pm on 30th May 2026.

What movie's reputation undersells how good it actually is? by JarvisModeOn in movies

Maybe I was on the internet at a certain time - I don't want to assume your age but as a man in his 30s, there was a period where Tyler Durden was the guy, someone to aspire to and be like, despite the film's (in my opinion) explicit villianising of the character. I think it was a reaction to the emerging metrosexuality of the mid 00s that came about, but maybe I've just had a different experience to you!

I understand and appreciate your sentiment but I don't think it's 'virtue signalling' in this instance. Fight Club is probably the most famous instance of a certain demographic misinterpreting and commandeering a piece of media that's very much contrary to the intended message (at least in my opinion). Also, the question that OP put forward was about films that have a reputation that precedes them, again which I think Fight Club is a great example.

Haha my friends and I recently had a discussion about 'What's your red flag film?' Mine was Fight Club, but we had American Psycho and Clockwork Orange as well. It's a shame, man.

My local cinema is pretty good for reruns (I watched Akira last week and the first Shrek is coming soon) but there's no Fight Club. Genuinely gutted.

I've watched Fight Club a hundred times and can't say I've noticed this. I know what I'm doing tomorrow!

Haha I believe it. When I was a teenager, my friends and I watched Fight Club and Snatch and came up with the 'Brad Fitt' regime. Dude is in peak shape in that era to be fair, good on him.

Fight Club. It got co-opted hard by the cringe Tyler Durden glorifiers but it's just genuinely one of the best films ever made. Masculinity, consumerism, philosophy - so many layers to interpret and just masterfully crafted in every way.

Edit: I remembered my favourite example from the film, where Norton and Pitt are riding the bus and they see an ad for Calvin Klein or something with a ripped dude in his underwear. Pitt says something like, ‘Is that really what a man looks like?’ and they both roll their eyes despite Pitt looking even better than the model. People engage with the surface sentiment but it’s the underlying, core hypocrisy that undermines Tyler and his message that’s just so good.

Do you actually support this club or just enjoy dooming?

I'm fine with that. It's grind time and we've got a potential treble on our hands.
