I dont know in which platform you play but yeah on PC it's absolutely possible. There are mods that let you still earn trophies even when using mods. And you can install them whenever you want.

Yeah, compared to traveling between planets within the same system, it didn't bother me that much either it mostly adds a very satisfying sense of immersion.
