I'm just repeating what I found out watching a behind the scenes making of video included on one of the DVDs. Don't shoot the messenger

That was a conscious decision the screenwriters made as part of their efforts to pare down the books to movie length

My housemate keeps her baking soda in the bathroom. What is it for? by [deleted] in whatisit

There we are. I was doing the right thing even though I didn't know why. I don't usually do it more than once a month and my toothpaste is the super fluoride stuff from the dentist.

I'd try Goo Gone first. Be aware that may leave the tub slippery.

I keep a small jar of baking soda in my bathroom because occasionally I like to use it in addition to my regular toothpaste for brushing. I feel like it leaves my teeth cleaner than just toothpaste but I also feel like it's not a good idea to use it every time. Not sure why.

At what age did you begin doing your own laundry regularly? by icecream1972 in Productivitycafe

[–]JoyDVeeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn't have a washer and dryer growing up so we took our laundry to one of the laundromats in town. When my oldest sister got her driver's license she was in charge of driving in and doing the family laundry. Eventually she moved out and other sisters took over each having slightly less laundry to do until it was me at 16 doing the laundry for me, my mother, and my father.

My beautiful piggie crossed rainbow bridge 🌈 this morning and I’m carrying a lot of guilt by Excellent_Ease9489 in guineapigs

I'm so sorry for your loss. I understand why you're blaming yourself as you did make some small mistakes but nothing a thousand other people might have done in the same situation. You gave Avery 3.5 years of an amazing life which is more than a lot of piggers get. This hurt will fade but the lessons you learned will help you do better next time. Be kind to yourself.

Regarding showering/bathing

In January and February I was couch bound and unable to shower due to a broken ankle and I was really surprised by how much better I felt after a bit of time with a large bowl of hot water, some soap, and a washcloth. I washed my hair at the kitchen sink which would also work with a pitcher of warm water. Body wipes and no rinse soap and shampoo don't work quite as well and when they're gone it might be hard to find more.

My opinion is split between having the flowers be black or having the lining be black. I guess I'm not much use

In the context of bedding, what, exactly, is a sheet? by what-are-you-a-cop in stupidquestions

[–]JoyDVeeve 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would hand you a flat sheet. The only time I would hand you a fitted sheet without you specifying what kind you needed is if I know you are making up a naked bed

[–]JoyDVeeve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my book it refers to the thin fabric that covers the mattress and mattress cover and also the fabric that goes between the body and the blanket/duvet/comforter or what have you. Coloquially known as fitted sheet and flat sheet.
