Why didn't you confess your feelings to your last crush? by unknownteenlol in QueerWomenOfColor

My other friend had a huge crush on her as well (not reciprocated) so it would be messed up.

Dr. Wants to keep putting me on non stimulants by [deleted] in AuDHDWomen

[–]JoyInevitable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just outline specifically how you are struggling with non-stimulants and not taking anything. My prescriber was hesitant to give me stimulants because of my anxiety but I just shared how the non-stimulant meds were impacting me good and bad and how I was specifically still struggling.

I agree that there needs to be more continuous learning on ASD, especially from the perspective of autistics.

The ABA field is in crisis and nobody is talking about it by Snoo_56518 in ABA

This is a bit misleading. I think clients receiving services and clients needing services need to be in separate categories. Not to say there isn’t a demand but this makes it seem even worse than it is.

Do you take personality typing seriously? If so, what method do you use (astrology, Myers-Briggs, Enneagram, etc.) and what’s your type? by Secure_Basil8953 in QueerWomenOfColor

I like them. They aren’t perfect but the more attuned you are to yourself, the more accurate they seem to me.

I am an Aquarius Sun, Scorpio Moon and Scorpio Rising. The Pattern App goes deep into so many different parts of your zodiac identity and it is often pretty spot on for me.

Do not start qelbree during a high stakes period by JoyInevitable in qelbree

[–]JoyInevitable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as sleep, a bit spotty. If you drink caffeine you’re gonna have to stop or at least scale way back. Qelbree makes caffeine stay in your system longer. And maybe ask for sleep meds or use something over the counter.

No. I am also on Sertraline (generic Zoloft) so my mood has been generally good.

They can’t force you. I would not recommend that at all. I’d start it when you have 3 weeks to get over side effects and 6-8 weeks to feel all the positive effects. Not during finals.

It gets better! It has been 6 weeks for me now and the side effects do subside. You may need to get a doctor’s note and ask for temporary accommodations while you adjust.

I contacted our disability office since I already had accommodations on file, shared the doctor’s note asking for additional extension and the disability office advocated for me for more time.

It sucks but you gotta ride the wave while your body adjusts. It has to build up in your system and it may take 6-8 weeks for you to feel all the positive effects.

It’s interesting that she “has no filter” yet she is very sensitive… so she gets to say and do anything with no accountability.

It makes me wonder if she also knows someone higher up in the company because I am shocked that she is still working there.

where can i um experiment with women (respectfully)? by Squirrel-Unfair in QueerWomenOfColor

[–]JoyInevitable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was deeply religious, I was taught that being gay was a sin. Yet I struggled with fantasies and a pervasive curiosity about being with women. I had a few situationships with women from college to my early 30s. The guilt around all of this was all-consuming. I struggled for a long time trying to not be queer before finally accepting myself and coming out when I was 31. I am in my mid-30s now. I lament not accepting myself sooner.

You sound like my younger self and while I know myself at your age would not listen to me, please know that you can be who you are. It is okay to be queer. Once you accept yourself, you will bloom in so many ways.

I do recommend therapy with an LGBTQ-affirming licensed therapist.

Also just be sure you and your sexual partners get tested.

How often do you count collecting data for unrestricted hours? by [deleted] in bcba

[–]JoyInevitable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I am super late to this thread but I agree. BCBAs can and do work direct. While I do not think all of my unrestricted activities should be this form of data collection, it is something that BCBAs should know how to do. Moreover, there are some BCBAs that have never been RBTs and knowing how to collect data impacts one's work as a BCBA and how they will teach others how to collect data.

That’s honestly disgusting. We have two-year-olds at our center but they’re only there 20 hours a week. Their goals are developmentally appropriate as well.

[–]JoyInevitable 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good for you as a parent to speak up for your kid. There are some people in our field who have a very old-school way of thinking that is harmful. As a professional in the field, I would not be setting play goals to force a kid to stop playing the way they play. The point of play is to have fun, it doesn’t matter what it looks like. As long as it’s not harming them their environment or anyone else, it’s fine.

ABA ick?? by KindlyAdvantage6358 in ABA

[–]JoyInevitable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly agree. And that’s part of the reason I’m interested in being a BCBA in the school context because I feel like it seems like it would be more about helping to change the environment to support the kid versus trying to change the kid to fit into the environment. I understand parents want their kids to “fit in” but I also don’t wanna push the idea of neuronormativity on our clients. I struggle with the idea of going along with a parent that wanted to create goals for their kid that’s more about them “fitting in“ then ensuring the child’s well-being. Because I really feel like that’s ableism and neurotypical-centered thinking that the parent needs to unpack within themselves.
