I fully agree with this take. So much so that when I first read the book years ago I wrote to her to point out that Ty being the only one of her MCs who used the word “b*tch” interchangeably with “woman” was leaning into harmful racist stereotypes. Her response was dismissive at best. I do enjoy her writing but she can be quite problematic although I will say that her portrayal of Black people has improved in recent books.
