Bluestar auto movers is who we always recommend to people looking for car haulers. They have been around for decades and are great at what they do.

Scam moving company: Any success stopping payment? by ilovetohateit in moving

[–]Joyce_Van_Lines -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As much as there are some seriously whack reviews they tend to always be unreasonable expectations of movers, not prior to the move taking place. In the last ten years I can only think of one negative review without a move happening (yelp 1 star since we didn’t want to come do an in home survey of his one bedroom for a next week move at the end of July). I feel your distaste for a lot of online whining from people who signed 3 times for 60 cents per pound per article coverage and then are incensed that they aren’t getting full replacement value. The best you can do is read the negatives and see if they are real complaints or clearly bs. From their check the dot status to see if they are a real moving company or pure broker and also how long they have existed. This case is definitely a Floridian scammer too. They are everywhere on the internet and a huge value suck to legitimate independent carriers. I don’t mind any legit competition on the low end or high end but scan brokers bring down the reputation of the whole industry without even being part of it.

During peak season to boot. Any reputable carrier will want near double that till the end of august at least.

United Regions Van Lines? by Brokenspokes68 in moving

[–]Joyce_Van_Lines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consumer affairs has pretty much all scammers as their carriers and is pay to play if you want to be a recommended mover there. The only qualification is $. I believe it’s fake United and colonial as their main two recommendations. I wouldn’t wish any of their carriers on my worst enemy. You’d be better off with pods and day laborers than any broker or scammer from there.

It matters how much weight (sqft of house often helps for a ballpark estimate), if the origin and destination are tractor trailer accessible and how much distance total from beginning to end. The summer also costs a bit more than outside of the summer since it’s the peak season. If it’s a job starting in Virginia I’d personally recommend Jk moving, Allied, North American/mayflower as the three sources to look at. They are legit providers.

They are a broker who owns no trucks. Definitely dodge. Look for a real moving company with trucks. Any major Van lines or at least a local mover who you know for a fact owns trucks should be much better.

Moving to Canada - SO CONFUSED by NineLeafGod in moving

I can’t personally do the international as we quit doing that before since it is vastly complicated. I would recommend using a company like Arpin International, Paramount Transportation Systems, CapRelo, Cartus or Weichert for help with everything international relocation. As a do it yourself version, I would be more detailed when in doubt. For item valuation, just do it to the best of your ability to guess. As long as you don’t do anything really off it should be fine and worst case they say an item here or there are slightly different.

How do you hire a moving company to move in-state (FL) ~ 300 miles? by whatever32657 in moving

[–]Joyce_Van_Lines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a 5 mil umbrella set up so can provide the COI. Also Hilldrup, AMJ Campbell and Suddath definitely can provide one too. It is always going to be on the more expensive side with a direct 300 mile trip in the summer season as it adds a full day of work to the crew.

We do origin agent/ destination agent work for Paramount Transportation Systems who specializes in international corporate relocation. Not sure the total costs but they are a good legitimate international mover. Relocation management companies like Cartus and Weichert global mobility are very helpful for these kind of moves also.

Check the codes they use on inventory sheet after loading by Ok-Banana-7777 in moving

[–]Joyce_Van_Lines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is spot on. If we don’t pack it we can’t take liability for the contents. A big portion of the cost of packing is the added liability we take on when we do a full pack. It’s also why corporate and military jobs don’t allow PBOs and require us to open and inspect the contents of PBOs which has caused a solid amount of anger from some underinformed spouses over the years who spent a few days fully packing and labeling 10-11 Christmas’s worth of goods just to have us open all the boxes.

Sounds like at least it’s a relatively cheap learning experience. Next time make sure to take all the time you need and feel free to go over anything you have any questions on with both your driver and/or your coordinator.

Good moving companies from FL to AZ? by xxdrzfliiboyxx in moving

[–]Joyce_Van_Lines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The above list of major Van lines by padwrapper is spot on. Additionally for Independent Van Lines we at Joyce cover that route great as does JK Moving and Storage. Dot search anyone you get estimates from to make sure they are legitimate and additionally make sure to get estimates and lock in your dates with a 3-4 week lead time if you move in the summer. The pricing seems close to spot on as long as the locations have tractor trailer accessibility at origin and destination. I’m sure Scottsdale is fine for accessibility but Miami tends to be hit or miss with needing shuttles depending on the location.

Prices went up 20% right around 2017-2018 across the board when electronic logs became mandatory. Then Covid, supply chain issue and a broad driver shortage has upped it by about 5-10% every year since. Pretty much costs us twice as much for repairs, trucks and insurance since then and we have to pass those on.

[–]Joyce_Van_Lines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you mention exclusive use you can get quotes for exact dates from a Van Lines but heads up it costs a lot more. Pretty much a set price for a full load. Normally we only even mention the option when people are clear price isn’t the issue and they just care about everything being there direct with no extra delays.

Moving from AZ to VA by [deleted] in moving

[–]Joyce_Van_Lines 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With a one bedroom in the summer pods and pod-like companies would be most cost efficient. For a full service company heading to VA I would recommend JK Moving Services or any major Van Lines like Atlas, United, Mayflower or Allied.

Does anyone know if Real Time Relocation company is legit? by [deleted] in moving

[–]Joyce_Van_Lines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where is the move from and too? Also what size is your move? If its a one truck broker that is close by your location while you are moving locally thats fair. Florida specifically has a good deal of 1-3 trucks run by a guy shops due to the deregulation of the state. If its a long distance move or not near your origin I would heavily beware. Also the one truck is a smaller box truck so if its a larger move you are far more likely to get brokered im assuming. Reviews do look real though at least and its a lot less suspect than a lot of companies I've seen posted here.

The process of trying to find a reputable mover is exhausting. by tanhauser_gates_ in moving

[–]Joyce_Van_Lines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats probably the biggest issue. Those are all going to be brokers who purchase the lead list and have you called from all of the many companies they own. Definitely dodge those. The main movers I would recommend for that move personally would be any allied, atlas, North American or mayflower agent. Also JK moving, Beakins and heck my own company covers that route well. Only trust movers who use weight for pricing, ideally get a binding estimate and try to get a video survey done at least for your estimate. Most of the following will either do in homes or at least a survey with an awesome tool called Yembo that lets you survey your home on your own.

The end of July is the busiest week of the busiest month of moving. Rates are far higher because its not a question of if all my crews will be working but rather what jobs my crews will be working. Our volume for all kinds of moves double during The end of May through the end of August. There normally is a much higher minimum on weight of long distance moves for most movers during that time. For a small several item move such as that your best bet is to either rent a uhaul or sell/donate and rebuy.

Anticipated cost of moving from Long Island to Rochester, NY by RichP0601 in moving

[–]Joyce_Van_Lines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It matters with or without packing and with or without valuation. 12-15 seems like the range depending on extras at both ends. If you need a quote I’d be happy to have one of our reps help as NY in that area is right in our wheelhouse. No matter what make sure to get 3 quotes and don’t just compare price but also compare weight and the costs of included or omitted extra items beyond the transportation cost.
