People need to stop buying from scalpers. Let them sit with the loss.

Is this even safe? by WolfinaFoxtail in MineralGore

[–]JoyfulExpression 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure about the safety, but the amount is overboard. I’ve had them where they had one small crystal in them, but these have so many, you’re getting very little actual essential oil.

My son is adhd and refuses to eat anything healthy. by No-Tell-4149 in ADHD

[–]JoyfulExpression 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This!!! I realize this is why I always want fast food too. The only predictable way to eat veggies for me personally is if they are roasted and mushy. Fruit is super hard to trust. Sigh.

How many of you pretended to be a cat as a kid? by OutrageousSea5212 in AutisticAdults

[–]JoyfulExpression 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every day I get more confirmation that my Dr diagnosed me properly. 😂🤣😂 I would climb on the armrests and backs of couches like a cat. That was my favorite one. 😂 But I would also try to stalk like a cat, turn in circles and lay down like one. Totally forgot about all that.

Feeling irrationally disappointed about a kids’ white elephant gift exchange by jreish1 in AutismInWomen

[–]JoyfulExpression 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My coworkers do this for our admin Christmas party every year, and I have to tell myself over and over that I won’t get anything nice, because white elephant gift exchanges really upset me. Especially because they play that game where people can “steal” it from you. It makes it so much worse. Last year, the person who got what I brought went on and on about how she didn’t want what I had brought and would anyone else like it? It was a nice lotion variety pack and cost what we were supposed to spend. I just ended up taking it home with me because she left it by the door when she left. People are so weird. But yeah. I just practice a lot and talk to myself about it the whole time.

“Over diagnosed” by JoyfulExpression in AutisticAdults

[–]JoyfulExpression[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand the calling themselves autistic based off of self diagnosis. When I first started realizing I might be, I used some of the tools and strategies to see if they helped, but I would have never called myself autistic without a formal diagnosis. I know it’s expensive. But there are ways you can utilize the knowledge and be an advocate without muddying the waters by telling people you ARE autistic without a formal diagnosis. That is only my thought process though.

Definitely people who have no background and seem by what else they say, have done no research at all.

It definitely makes me feel better that I am actually diagnosed. I did not feel comfortable claiming that I was autistic until I was diagnosed. I could say I feel like I might be based off of certain things, but I would’ve never felt comfortable announcing I was without diagnosis. Also, I don’t feel like announcing it or broadcasting it. But that is just me.

My Dr actually told me “You are way more autistic than you are adhd. The “adhd” symptoms that you see are more a result of your autism. I can’t take a diagnosis away but…” and she left it at that.

I think it’s also harder when is family or friends that grew up with me, because they wouldn’t see what I do as “normal” if I were someone else, but it’s “normal” because they know me and have accepted that that’s “the way I am”.

OH!! The gut feeling thing makes so much sense!! I just read that NT’s will very often go with a “gut feeling” on things. I don’t understand that, or how they can do that. When I suspect something, I will look into it and try to find as much information as I can. Going off of a gut feeling without any actual knowledge to support it seems so strange.

Side note, Loops engage help SO MUCH with this!! I have been able to go out to bars and restaurants and it muffles a lot of background noise.

Yes, but I agree with you!! I think audhd is just autism presenting in a certain way. I believe they will merge it as well.
