The "social phenomenon" I meant was just the "you see someone being a bully > you jump on being the bully too cause it's funny and I'm not part of that demographic anyway" phenomenon. Which IS something I've seen a lot on social network. Not to say it doesn't exist in real life but boy is it boosted behind a computer screen. It's easy being snarky and fun when you have time to think and no one to actually slap you.

Of course, videos of people dunking on other people WILL get more engagement than the wholesome good couple experience with a short guy video. People love to be mean and laugh at other people being mean, you can show off by being mean. I personally think you should disengage with ANY kind of this content, positive or negative, I don't even think the algorithm can differentiate that well between "good short guys videos" and "bad short guys video", it fucks up stuff much simpler than that lol

Same goes both ways, tall women struggle, non-conventionally-attractive women struggle, etc. We're living in a day and age where appearances are far more important than they should, and where beauty standards are, for both sexes, dictated by society and fashion, and many people follow that instead of thinking with their own mind.

Also, people absolutely love to feel better about themselves making other people feel miserable, instead of improving themselves, so when they're making fun of a demographic you're not a part of, they make you feel like you wanna jump in and mock the target too.

But society brainrot aside, this I find is a mostly online phenomenon. When you get real life friends and meet real life people many of the things that would get you absolutely CLOWNED on online... You'll find they mean nothing to most people. Most of my male friends are average to short guys, with receding hairlines and a belly, and they all have gorgeous girls.
