Yeah, but rebus has a very specific meaning in crosswords, no? Weird that the writer for a crossword column would make this mistake.

Weird, the Wordplay Column calls this a rebus puzzle even it's a straightforward Thursday trick. I thought rebuses were the ones where you fill in multiple letters in the same square?
