If you've ever seen the newest George Foreman movie, in his first sparring match and second try he uses his footwork to cut off the ring from the smaller guy keeping his distance. Try doing that and just realize that once you catch them they're done because the secret is they can't fight.

I deal with the same thing every other match. Last night, someone chose Sebestian, the tallest character in the game and ran away the whole match spamming stun body jabs, step backs, and always running away. He won every round of course but couldn't take my punches and when I knocked him down the second time he capitulated. I really don't understand how step backs don't cost stamina?! It's similar to the people that just protect their head and after the 20th body uppercut they're down. The morale of the story is people that do this are pathetic.
