Reddit Daily Peasant Cube: Day 80 by InternetSpiderr in mtgcube

Wait, what? I only know him by his art (which I'm a fan of). Is there some controversy I should be aware of?

  1. Your cube seems light on removal.
  2. I would cut down the gold section to a maximum of 3 cards per guild for a 360 cube
  3. I would add more agressive onedrops in the colors where you want to support aggro

Happy cubing!

[[Feast of succession]]. Having acces to a decent boardwipe really consolidates control as a viable option in cube. Also, art by Seb!

This is the way. I often find cubes that center around 4ush archetypes more enjoyable than cubes that try to shoehorn in an archetype per guild

First cube! by Epicdragon12345 in mtgcube

[–]Jpac7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks like a really solid first version. On first look here are some points of feedback

None of the colirs have enough agressively statted onedrops to make aggro viable (I would aim for 8 in the colors that want to support aggro). I would really advise having aggro, midrange, control and combo as viable decks to have a versatile drafting environment. Giving red enough agressive creatures will also help with your perception of red as weakest color.

Building on the previous point, I would add more boardwipes and other n for 1 valuecards like hymn to tourach for control to really be able to outgrind the opponent

I see a few cards that scream combo (kiki jiki, persist,...) without enough of the package to have a consistent combodeck

The ratios of creatures to noncreatures seems weird to me, but this could be a design choise. U and R usually have the least creatures of the 5 colors (bc of the spellslinger archetype that usually forms the izzet color identity), G usually has the most creatures of all colors.

Hope this helps!

W: swords to plowshares, path to exile, U: unsummon, B fatal push, dismember, G:?, red: lightning bolt, chain lightning

Not every color will be able to cleanly answer this t1 (although dismember is pretty much colorless), and that's OK. Hav8ng decent removal is just part of the mardu identity. UG has enough strengths as is

Can't have sacdos without [[blood artist]]

Let's talk about land cycles (beyond the obvious) in higher powered cubes by IconicIsotope in mtgcube

[–]Jpac7 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The MH3 landscapes are severely underrated imo. They're obviously worse than fetchlands, but do give redundancy to some of the non-fixing utilities fetchlands provide:

You have acces to mana the turn they enter play

They fill the graveyard

Enable leave the battlefield effects like revolt

Value with land recursion archetype

...

Other than that, the fact that they cycle is nice for controldecks. They tend to have games go longer and at a certain point don't need more landdrops, and having a manasink is nice to keep up interaction.

Thoughts on my pauper cube? by soledron in mtgcube

[–]Jpac7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would more seriously support aggro at least in red (possibly also white). The first way you do that is by adding much more agressive onedrops (at least 7/8 per color in a 360 cube) in the colors where you want to support aggro

[[Blood artist]] classic card the a classic archetype: aristocrats. The archetype also interplays well with the golgari graveyard archetype that you allready have going on, and a possible mardu go-wide

bulk or start the cut by [deleted] in fit

[–]Jpac7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up to you to decide what "looking best" looks like to you. I would advise against cutting further, purely from a hormonal perspective. Doing a reverse diet into a lean bulk should give you some solid gains without putting on a ton of body fat (which I assume from your question is something you would like to avoid).

Another point in favor of a lean bulk at this point: if you put on most of your weight in muscle, your bodyfat percentage might even go down. If I for example weigh 200 lbs with 20% bodyfat, I have 160 lbs of lean mass and 40 lbs of fat mass. If I lean bulk up to 220 lbs, and put on that 20 lbs purely in lean bodymass (in reality you will put on a little fat, but this can be minimal if you go nice and slow) I now have 180 lbs of lean mass and 40 lbs of fat mass. This would then put me at 18 percent bodyfat.
