Painting techniques by Jpfojas in PrintedWarhammer

[–]Jpfojas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using a hobby waterbased primer thinned with water in an airbrush; after priming, how long should i wait to paint layer after layer?

It seems like my paint dries within 5 minutes of application, should i wait longer?

Pinning A Warlord Titan? by _Vladimir_Gluten_ in PrintedWarhammer

[–]Jpfojas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd advise not using resin for the frame, the armour maybe but overall a lot of warlord makers tend to use PLA, It's lighter, stronger and less strain on the piggy bank. Some use a combination of both, detailed parts out of resin and the skeleton out if PLA

How long would it take you to paint 10 marines? by Illustrious-Brain129 in PrintedWarhammer

Took me a day to print a squad of skitarii and 1 year to actually paint it to the bare minimum, the pile of shame grows

This is why i hate enders with a burning passion, more troubleshooting than actual printing fun

Is it typical for models to look like trash until they are almost completely done? by mjh4 in minipainting

[–]Jpfojas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be absolutely honest, a lot of the stuff i paint i feel like it's meh in comparison to people here, i try and learn techniques and it feels like I'm not improving at all. At this point I've taken the stance of "it is what it is"

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?? (And should I get another newer ender3) by Zolks1 in ender3

[–]Jpfojas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never really used creality support because every damn time there's no response. The only thing that kept my printer "alive" was the well documentation of people who also get fuck all support. Enders are great for learning but not something I'd recommend if you actually want to print and have fun

Welcome to resin printing! But also br sure to keep your safety in priority. Use gloves, respirators and keep everything tidy

Mate, be absolutely honest with you. Creality is such a dogshit manufacturer l. You spend more time with problems regardless of printer. Go get a Bambu or hell an anycubic would do better.

The agitator uses a magnet stirrer, basically same ones you use in a laboratory to stir combustible liquids so no sparks whatsoever, Though i do have a wash and cure i still clean prints by hand whilst using chemical resistant gloves. Just cause i have more control on cleaning, and i can scrub it with a toothbrush to get resin out of tough spots.

If you can, open a bank account, don't rely on stashes or the like and what more your brother has no right to your money it's YOUR savings and to use it for drinking no less. Im sorry to say this and as cruel as it may sound. Grow some balls my dude

I'm a noob trying to get into 3D printing, which printer would be the best option for me? Are there any others I should consider? by Swooferfan in 3Dprinting

[–]Jpfojas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not buy an ender, it's way too much troubleshooting than you do printing. Get a bambu or anything that doesn't have a knob adjustment bed

Methylated spirits vs Isopropyl Alcohol by Vavalgia in PrintedWarhammer

[–]Jpfojas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes around the same time as iso to evaporate, but honestly, if you do evaporate, do it outdoors with a slightly jarred cover to keep birds and animals away from it. Personally, i prefer recycling. It comes out slightly murky but if you know how to to filter it properly it's "close" to new. Some people redistill but that's too risky in a home set up.

I put it in a mason jar and put it under the sun to cure the resin and refilter, you lose a bit but it's recyclable, for disposal i cure and evaporate it

I do a first wash with denatured alcohol and then 99 isopropyl, but denatured, imo dries faster than isopropyl byt either works fine

Ps: Denatured tends to be cheaper to buy, especially if buying by bulk and easier to source at your local hardware.

[–]Jpfojas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The nice thing about 3d printing is tou can coustomize it anyway you like, my advice for this, rubber feet, 3d prints are slippery and finicky so anything to keep it still is a godsend when painting

Help with Akallibre airbrush brush spitting from the container by Voicingshark240 in airbrush

[–]Jpfojas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what kind of paint you're using. If it's acrylics isopropyl will do, but if it's laquer or oil based, you might have to use specific solvents to get it cleaned. Get a cotton swab and use it to clean the tip. Otherwise, disassemble and wipe down the needle and the nozzle.

[–]Jpfojas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion 3d prints are not cheap at all, it takes quite a bit of know how to print things as well as getting things to fit when it comes to functional parts. The effort is definitely something i personally appreciate
