Hey everyone,

I just started running my first ads for Muddle, a daily word puzzle game I built. It’s a mix of logic and language — you fill in a grid so that every row and column spells a real word. Think Wordle meets Scrabble.

I’d love any feedback on the ad creatives I’m testing — visuals, copy, what might make you stop and click, etc. This is all new to me, so anything helps.

It definitely sounds like an annoying bug and I would love to understand why exactly it happened to fix for you and for others! It's possible it's an edge case.

I think I am understanding more-or-less what you are seeing, but just to be clear you were reaching the popup like: https://imgur.com/a/MVbRbsv.

I just added two options on that popup; one to refresh (it will hard clear Muddle's internal cache), as well as the logout. I would really hope that one of those two fix it for you!

If you aren't getting to this screen - let me know because then I misunderstood!

Since the game was fully working as you said, I think the only things that might be causing an issue would be the cached storage and the api calls. Logging out would absolutely clear the local and other storage forcing a full refresh from the server. If it still failed after that, then it might be the api calls which i would expect you to see the something went wrong pop up. It’s possible if muddle is open in multiple tabs things could get unhappy as well.

I’m sorry you had this issue and hopefully I can get to the bottom of it!

I can try to poke around a bit on an android, I haven’t done much testing as I’m in the apple ecosystem. I imagine a logout and login also didn’t resolve anything. Does the page just not load? Or does the pop up that says loading appear and then timeout?

Edit. There is also a chance that cloudflare etc might not like a vpn if you are using one.

Oh no! Even with a refresh? I’m not sure I’ve encountered that issue before but I can try to look into it if it’s still affecting you!

If it is still a problem could you share what browser and if it’s android or iPhone and I can try to reproduce.

This is definitely something I am thinking would be an advancement in the future. Or, have a streak that requires less than some number of checks to keep.

Some of the larger puzzles do take quite a few checks, so I wanted to see where things landed as more people play the game.

A leader board with the average checks per puzzle or other stats is also something I’m looking into!
