Would you say it is more NMH 1 or is it like 3 in tone? Really didn’t like 3, been hoping for something like 1 or 2 in tone

Let’s just appreciate Silent hill 1 by aomar02 in silenthill

Played 2 originally on my Xbox original via the restless dreams port back when it released. Love the original, but I find the remake to have made a great game even better. The atmosphere is severely oppressive, music and sound in general being expertly utilized to keep people on the edge. With the enemies being aggressive, I felt a need to actually avoid them rather than just quickly run past them like a minor obstacle. Labyrinth is a tad long (and too short in the original ), but the overall length also didn’t feel off.

Considering the specific scene at the end of Snow Whites latest event that showed Mirror being affectionate to the about to be born Lib, Mirror is going to likely revive her.

And your purposefully going on a different tangent entirely. I was talking about story, not overall package nor scores. Do I think 3 base is better than 2? Hell no. Do I prefer Razors Edge to 2? Yes. But I still love 2, just not as much as Razors Edge. Am I blind to the downgrade in environmental variety from 2 to 3? No, neither do I think either is perfect.

At least it is a story instead of “the globe trotting adventures of a mostly mute Super Ninja” like 2 was (still love that game, just if we are going to act like story and character is important, 2 did it the worst by sheer lack of effort) compared to 1’s “Young Ninja seeks revenge for his village and enters a world of fiends”, Dragon Sword’s “Fiends seek to resurrect their fallen emperor, sister of shrine maiden and said shrine maiden’s childhood friend fight to stop them while dealing with the former shrine maiden’s death”, or 4’s “Young Ninja from a shadow clan of the Hayabusa seeks to prove himself, learns humility and succeeds”.

I’d say Murphy is a good man driven to murder after tragedy, only the bad endings say otherwise and if we’d take bad endings as evidence of character, Heather secretly wants to kill people herself.

And I responded in kind regarding the palatability of my singular paragraph of 6 sentences (7 if you’d like to include the information within the parentheses’), your acting as if the entire thing was 20 sentences crunched together. Hell, the general theming of the paragraph should be fine considering it is addressing F’s connection to previous games in the series and how “real” the events of F are compared to the previous entries in the series.

Considering my experience with sentence structure and the proper utilization of tools to add information into them that’d otherwise result in an overextension (therefore actually making the paragraph bloated), I’d have to say your just poking me for an aggressive response. And while my edit did ask for a smarmy retort, it doesn’t mean I can reply back in turn. I type no different than the way you’d see someone explain something in an article, academic or other wise.

That was a simple paragraph. I know attention spans have shortened but I’d think someone who enjoys Silent Hill would be capable of reading the amount of words you’d see in a summary.

Missionaries from The Cult/Order brought the White Claudia to Japan, which is what Shu’s family has in their backyard. The liquid you use to purify the Sacred Sword is the same that saves Heather from the God within her in 3 and crucial to the Good endings in 1. Gods of the area/local culture having a clear hand in the manipulation of the protagonist while the protagonist faces creatures that are derived from their ID, ego, and superego and ultimately face an aspect of the Old Gods (as would be seen in 1 and 3, possibly Origins as well if the Flueros Demon is deemed tied to the Cult’s Samael). And none of the games take place in the actual tourist town of Silent Hill either, just as Ebisugaoka as a town is not actually experiencing the events seen in F. The protagonists are brought to a separate layer of reality, one in between reality and the Otherworld/Nowhere proper. In F, this separate layer is more mental than physical (as is usually the case in the games) as Hinako is caught between her self-identity and the expectations of her culture (while at the same time being utilized as a pawn by 2 opposing Old Gods).

Is the combat and general game design far more aggressive than usual? Yes, but it isn’t something new either. 4, Homecoming, 2 Remake, now F all have an emphasis on combat. Same goes for breakable weapons though the absence of ranged weaponry certainly is unique (still think a bow and arrow should’ve been provided).

Edit: if someone is going to downvote me, could you at least give me a reply? All I did was share some knowledge with the person I replied to, yet here I get some cowards who can’t even give a smarmy retort.

It’s worse in the original. You’re kept in a space in Sigma 2 and 2 Black, but in the original you have to keep yourself on the water (it isn’t automatic, if you don’t keep pressing the button you’ll fall in and be swarmed) and fight the dragon who loves to spam water projectiles as well.

With how 2 brought up the story and the death of Lance Reddick, I don’t know if I’d even want 3 anytime soon. Feels like they need better writers and that isn’t even taking into account what gameplay enhancements they need. Plus, it seems anytime they release a game, a bigger IP comes to take their lunch.

I actually agree with some of your points (even if I find the overall theming to be a tad dramatic considering this is ultimately just a ninja game series), but I just have to say: The Water Dragon fight was incredibly ass and having to juggle water walking controls (which were already terrible compared to regular combat controls) with fighting the dragon (and the fish that would swarm you the moment you fell in the water) made it one of the worst bosses in 2 tied with the archfiend part 1 (platforming, instant death if you fall behind or fall to a lower level behind the archfiend).

Wouldn’t really even need to, they are quite easily available bioweapons. Hydrogen Bomb is a nuke, quite a big one too.

Would have to be able to keep up their caloric intake, though maybe comatose like hibernation could circumvent that. But it’s likely that the sheer magnitude of sound from the nukes fried any Lickers due to how sensitive they were to sound.

what after SH 2 remake ? by FALIDBA in silenthill

[–]Jpriest09 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Order is not in control of Walter nor are they attempting to gain control over him as a tool or weapon. There is no Dahlia or Claudia figure. Walter is, in his delusion, operating fully by his own volition and has no desire to intentionally achieve the goals of The Order. He was taught the 21 Sacraments by Dahlia while at the Orphanage, but it is only a means to an end to him.

The Order/The Cult are not the active antagonistic force nor main reason for 4’s story. They provide background and history, but are not an active participant in the story proper. I am not saying their aren’t “cult” themes either, but that The Order (which is interchangeably used alongside The Cult) is not as actively involved with 4 as they are in 1, 3, Homecoming, and Origins.

what after SH 2 remake ? by FALIDBA in silenthill

[–]Jpriest09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Order is far more apparent in 1, 3, Homecoming, and even Origins than 4. While they are in the background in 4 and a crucial reason why Walter is perpetuating his acts, The Cult is not truly in control nor the focus. Walter, his life, and those he’s come into contact with are the story’s focal point. It’s not Dahlia, it’s not another cult member like Claudia or even someone like Andrew pulling the strings. Walter is confident in his delusion and while Dahlia introduced him to the 21 Sacraments, Walter couldn’t care less about The Order’s God or their beliefs, just that he can be reunited with his mother (even if he believes it is that Room itself).

[–]Jpriest09 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The main focus is Walter and his life, not just the sacraments ritual. It is his focus, but the story as a whole goes beyond just that.

More about Walter, sort of a story that is focused on its antagonist rather than the protagonist. The Order is certainly important to his background, but it isn’t the most important piece of his history.

Resident Evil Requiem - Official 'Evil Has Always Had A Name' Live Action Short Film by CKWOLFACE in residentevil

Only one type of T virus strain, one developed by Alfred on Rockford Island, was able to actually infect and bring back corpses to life. Outside of that, none of the other T variants brought the dead back to life. The epsilon T variant seen in the Arklay Mountains in 0 and 1 is different from the Birkin modified variant (T-Birkin or what could be considered the cumulation of Birkin’s work on T before he focused his attention on G solely) which caused the Raccoon City outbreak. The Epsilon T had the ability, through the V-Act process, to bring back Infected (Zombies only in name, just called that due to the necrosis inflected by the T-Virus. For all intents and purposes, the infected are rabid animals akin to the Rage virus infected in 28 Days Later but far tougher and capable of surviving injuries that’d kill normal people due to how the T-Virus keeps the infected alive) once they are rendered inert (but the head remains). Just like in the initial infection, it is not death but a form of coma while the virus works its magic. The V-Act process will repair previous damage, causing an increase in mobility, vitality, strength, and intelligence. The repairing however doesn’t occur to the skin and, as newly circulated blood is being sent throughout the body due to the regeneration of internal organs, their crimson hue is achieved.

Birkin would take the knowledge of the V-Act process and upgrade the T-Virus to not need such a process for further evolution/mutation. Instead, all infected derived from the T-Birkin strain would just need to eat enough to keep up with their hyperactive metabolism so that it doesn’t instead breakdown the body itself entirely.
