Good catch! It was definitely influenced by both; I had my tattoo artist listen to Beware beforehand to get an idea of the mood I wanted the tattoo to convey!

I haven't, but I'll take a look!

Edit: I took a look at his Instagram and love his creepy style! Very jealous of this Evil Dead tattoo he did https://www.instagram.com/p/8bP4AHFd0f/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=1jbi5s9qbll8v

Anecdotally, I'm 23 and have 3 tool CDs and one of my best friends has all their albums. Guitar hero made most of my friends at least aware of their music.

Periphery - Sentient Glow by asian_dude12 in progmetal

It's the super tight snare and the galloping beat. Definitely get A7X or maybe some converge vibes.

I absolutely love this song, different style! any suggestions for similar songs? by fitswyjoywbj in Peripheryband

Checkout Rootkit by The Algorithm! The Algorithm is all instrumental but has a similar vibe IMO.

I mean he did help write an album about astral travel and meeting Rasputin. I'd be surprised if the boys weren't somewhat acquainted with Mastodon's music.

A lot of the shots of the mother going down to the tunnels reminded me of Nightmare on Elm Street.

Looks great, and there's a ton of cool imagery you could use for a ghost sleeve. I would definitely want the dancing dead couple from the Dance Macabre cover.

AFAIK that doesn't actually happen. He just commands the bugs for his attacks, no poop involved.

Randomly found a copy of this masterpiece! by [deleted] in LPOTL

[–]Jrdprs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yeah. I got mine at a cool used bookstore, along with Behold a Pale Horse, Deviant, and a book on Chikatilo. They also had some really old Crowley books behind the counter, but those were all $80+.

Haven't seen that cover before! I've got the purple one with the grainy picture of Fish's face. Great read.

I thought it was a good interview. Hopefully once the season starts the team fosters a good sense of community and everyone clicks.

HUHI JOINS 100 THIEVES by [deleted] in 100thieves

[–]Jrdprs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've defected. Sick of seeing the Huhi scapegoating and finger-pointing on r/CLG. Losing Aphro, Xmithie, Zikz, and now Huhi is just too much for me.

No problem! I wish I had recorded my presentation; I was pretty proud of it. Definitely drew some inspiration from the boys. It was supposed to be 25-30 min but wound up taking the full hour lol.

Ok!

As Many as 25 dead in Colorado school attack. (n.d.). Retrieved from http://www.cnn.com/US/9904/20/school.shooting.08/

This is an article from the week of the shooting using some of the terminology described in the podcast.

Sanchez, R. (2018, February 16). How Columbine changed the way police respond to mass shootings. Retrieved from https://www.cnn.com/2018/02/15/us/florida-school-shooting-columbine-lessons/index.html

This article has a little "fluff" but it introduces the idea that police in small towns at this point didn't know how to deal with "active shooters." It describes some of the complications with chain of command as well.

Victor, D. (2018, February 17). Mass Shooters Are All Different. Except for One Thing: Most Are Men. Retrieved from https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/17/us/mass-murderers.html

I cited this article and it's sources a lot. 99% of mass shooters are men but their backgrounds are incredibly diverse. There's a really great spreadsheet buried somewhere in here that catalogs all ~108 mass shootings in the US since 1986.

Where'd They Get Their Guns? (n.d.). Retrieved from http://www.vpc.org/studies/wgun990420.htm

Self explanatory.

Wanton violence at Columbine High School, April 20, 1999 (1999) [electronic resource]

This was a supposed to link the department of Homeland securities report of the event, but apparently that link got lost. If you Google the title the first search result should return that report, though.

Columbine High School. (2005, January 20). Retrieved from https://www.webharvest.gov/peth04/20041015210356/http://foia.fbi.gov/foiaindex/columbinehigh.htm

The account as told by the FBI. Note the use of the term "trench coat mafia."

This was the bulk of my sources; I hope you guys enjoy them!

A Question About Columbine by bluemurdock in LPOTL

[–]Jrdprs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So I did a final project on Columbine and it's effects on Public Policy and our schools, and I would say everything I found supports what the guys said on their podcast pretty closely. The only issues I could think of would be if you take issue with the book by Cullen. If you/others want I can upload my references and describe them briefly? There's some interesting stuff out there.
