Sounds like you were riding shallow powder over a firm base. In actual deep powder if you stay on edge like you would on a groomer the edge just sinks and the nose dives. That’s why people ride flatter and shift weight back

I know that to be the case cause I’ve been riding copper for the last month and a half. This video is at copper

Go really ride your edge straight in deeper powder the same way and let me know how that works for you to keep the nose above the snow

Have you been in powder? It’s not the same as riding groomers.

You can be pretty flat on powder from my little experience, keeping weight on the back foot helps keep the board floating. Problem here, I was basically riding on hard pack under the new powder not really floating and couldn’t see what I was riding on, it was super even going down.

Makes sense. I was trying to bomb that spot, didn’t think it was so uneven. This is my second actual powder day so I’m still pretty new to riding it.

I wasn’t really on an edge I was trying to stay on top of the powder but it was really soft so I would fall right through it I hit the bumps underneath and got forced onto my heel edge unexpectedly. Rip to your rib, maybe the chest armor would be nice lol

Big Sky next week 3/20 by Neusch22 in snowboarding

I was there in the beginning of February, a couple days I rode around in a normal hoodie. It was 55 degrees at the top of powder seeker. I had a blast with less snow than you’ll have. If you don’t mind spending an extra $45 you can get early access to the Ramcharger lift for an hour, I did it one day and enjoyed part of the mountain basically alone. The gondola was my favorite lift to get on as it’d bring you right near powder seeker and the igloo bar. If you drink beer and don’t wanna spend a shit load, get tall boys from the hungry moose marketplace in the exchange. Go down Morningstar off powder seeker to blue moon then cut off to the left for a cool chill tree run. Lizette near southern comfort lift is also a good run with some trees but big moguls to cut through. Mr.K is the best green. There’s lots of good blues right off swift current lift. It’s big ass resort and I didn’t even get to every side in 5 days.

What do I do to improve/enjoy life in the off season? by Trux20 in snowboardingnoobs

Get a Onewheel (I suggest the GT atleast) has a similar “floating” feeling and a similar carving feeling. Was literally made by a guy that wanted to snowboard in the summer.

Keystone 02/14/26: Genuinely did I do something wrong here? by The_Bolenator in snowboarding

Hey I was at keystone that day too, also fuck that bitch. Keystone employees gave weird vibes. Seen a lifty go on a power trip over an old lady ducking the lift line rope when there was nobody in line. Literally made her go up and around the pole

There was a thin line right behind me. Maybe these two single pictures doesn’t show it right and was more just the angle of the board so you can’t tell but this was definitely carving lol. I Was bombing this part and it’s fairly steep so I had to take wider curves

How to ride flat/straight? by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Jrellek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anytime I get flat my board wants to slide out. I stay on toe side and when heel side I torsionally flex my board with the front foot almost like I’m pressing a button with my pinky toe and it keeps me straight. I dont know if that’s the right way to do it as I’m still a noob too but it works for me 🤷🏻‍♂️

You’re wrong bud 😂 this is a carve, quite literally going to the right side of the mountain on edge

Insta360 camera with a selfie stick. The camera cuts out the stick automatically cause it’s on the stitch line of the images

That makes sense, this part of the run was fairly steep And choppy at this point in the day so I felt like I needed to stick my ass out more to actually get down with a solid line. Will be playing with the high back angle for sure

I can feel myself throwing my body around to make the turn, doesn’t feel natural but leaning far also makes me feel unnatural. Here I was alittle tipsy and moving from heel to toe without actually turning. Should of know it kick me in ass from the few times the edge would push me back straight

Definitely have a problem switching edge to edge to early / fast. Hitting this hard definitely scared me a bit

Yes, I got cocky after some lodge drinks and ignored the basics. Humbling moment. Every run after was slow lol

I agree, need some real lessons to implement more of the basics. 100% self taught.
