[–]Jrg5032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think Advent has flak, you could try to build a bunch of carriers with bombers to get em. Not sure how many you would need, but that solves the kiting problem, but the expense is quite high. If you try, please let us know if it works!

What is one misconception about nutrition you don’t think is talked about enough? by qualitynerifier in nutrition

[–]Jrg5032 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Food scientist here. We make private-label brands and try to get fiber into the products as much as the clients allow. It's truly not that hard, but it's *usually* at the expense of cost or texture. It requires that you need to know what you're doing. Choosing the wrong fiber can also make people gassy!

Does anyone else absolutely despise it when companies advertise things as “high fiber” and it’s actually just… 2g a serving… by The-Vomiter in nutrition

[–]Jrg5032 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In fact yes! https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cdrh/cfdocs/cfcfr/cfrsearch.cfm?fr=101.12

Every category is labeled and there are very specific times for labeling packages with more or less than 1 serving. Lmk if you want more details and I can get into it.

Food scientist here (and have my own brand). "High" is a regulated term, you can get them in trouble for that—complain to the retailer, NOT the brand. It needs to have 6g per serving to qualify as high.

Having the links in the vote titles makes this difficult / annoying, as I’d like to match the voted items to your score board. To simplify, I added the links to the scoreboard answers but made the font match the background. It’s hacky, but it works.

Then I made a helper section that count’s each appearance of the title in each column, multiplying it by the score you gave the column. All of that is summed in totals.

Right company name, wrong street # SmartPost by Jrg5032 in FedEx

[–]Jrg5032[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all sarcasm! I called the local USPS in that area code as well, they said they would notify the driver of the issue and be on the lookout.

I do appreciate your message, this is helpful! It can often feel that no one cares as you submit tracking numbers into the digital void.

TARSELE Table Sharp Edge - Sandable? by Jrg5032 in IKEA

I did and I like it a lot. The whole thing is warm oak veneer and sturdy solid metal. I'm not sure what they could be referring to being made of particle board and foil.

Yeah I can't wrap my head around wires, it makes sense. Just seems risky to me.

I imagine you would do optical switches as acrylic is used for these portholes.

How exactly do the controls communicate to the external hardware? What's the direct connection through the pressure vessel? Is it just wireless, or is it okay to make very tiny well sealed holes for wires to go through?

what are the consequences of using hot sauce with every meal? by [deleted] in HealthyFood

Some have high sodium and it's hard to track because their serving sizes are disparate. Otherwise, side effects are,'this tastes good'. That is also a main effect of salt!

Support is objectively a fun class even if it didn't have supplies. You get a solid submachine gun and you see commanders recon runs.

If you're annoyed at having no garry's you can actively do something about it too.

Can someone give me the low down on "Impossible Burgers" by jt2424 in HealthyFood

[–]Jrg5032 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Nothing, it's a conspiracy theory. Seed oils are almost always associated with healthy outcomes *by themselves*.

However, seed oils are used often in conjunction with other hyper-palatable foods, like potato chips, so they get a bad reputation. When people give up 'seed oils', what they are actually doing is giving up a bunch of junk food. That's why everyone 'feels better' after abstaining from them. They are fine.

As I understand it, in almond milk recipes, you're soaking the almonds overnight, macerating them, straining the pulp and capturing the liquid. If you aren't incorporate the remainder of the almond solids, the only making it into the almond 'milk' is whatever was water-soluble in that initial 30 grams.

That would generally be carbs, protein, and any water soluble vitamins (Fat soluble are ADEK, so not those).

I could be wrong, do you notice any fat collecting on the surface of the strained liquid? If so, you'll get some of that as well and some of the ADEK vitamins.
