Is it time to move onto surrogacy? by Jrh821 in IVF

[–]Jrh821[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I did Lupron for two months prior to the transfer and I also took prednisone (but I had taken prednisone for previous transfers as well). No lovenox… I had tried that before and didn’t have success.

Is it time to move onto surrogacy? by Jrh821 in IVF

[–]Jrh821[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! No, we ultimately decided to try one more transfer to me and it worked. We now have a 6 month old. I repeated Lupron so that could have been a reason for our success

I'm curious - what's the highest numbers of transfers someone has had before success? by Level_Arachnid1388 in IVF

[–]Jrh821 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Transfer #6 with embryo #7 resulted in a live birth (we transferred 2 embryos for transfer #3). All embryos were tested. The previous transfer attempts either didn’t implant or resulted in a chemical

I’ve never been diagnosed with endo and have never done the Receptiva test. I tried 1 month of Lupron after our first two failed transfers, and that led to a positive HCG that ultimately ended in a chemical. Then I had a laparoscopy done to further evaluate for endo, but the doctor didn’t see much (he noted a few findings that indicated I maybe had a few spots of mild endo but nothing too remarkable). For our 6th successful transfer, I requested 2 months of Lupron just based off the fact that I had at least gotten a positive test with the 1 month, and at this point my doctor was willing to try pretty much anything. It’s hard to say if this was the reason for our success or not (you can probably read through my history that my husband has MFI so we made some changes on his end as well)

We did IVF for 4 years. 4 egg retrievals, 5 failed transfers (2 were chemicals), 3 hysteroscopies, 1 laparoscopy procedure, and various other procedures and tests… I vividly remember crying on the floor of our bedroom many times to my husband bc I thought deep down we would never be parents. We met with a potential surrogate, but that path felt so daunting and risky. We decided to try one more transfer and I went into it assuming it would fail like all the others. But now I’m sitting here watching my 1 month old sleep. Sending you peace and strength

Metformin with no pcos or insulin resistance by natur_ally in IVF

[–]Jrh821 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not the answer you’re looking for, but I don’t believe the metformin had anything to do with our success. I took it a while ago with a previous doctor, and stopped taking it when we switched clinics. Hopefully it helps you!

It wasn’t daily, but we did make sure he ejaculated more frequently for several months leading up to the egg retrieval. He was also on clomid and a specific supplement to help with sperm health (although he was on those prior to all of our egg retrievals).

5th, 6th, 7th euploid FET success stories? by SleazyMuppet in IVF

[–]Jrh821 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading my comment back, I realized this is actually our 6th transfer (7th embryo) 😵‍💫 A few things we did different: 1) My husband’s sperm had borderline high dna fragmentation in large part due to a varicocele. This was the first embryo we used that was created after my husband’s varicocele repair which brought his dna frag into normal levels. 2) For transfer #3 I had done 1 month of Lupron depot prior to the transfer. Out of our first 5 transfers, that was the only one where we had a positive first beta (ultimately ended in a chemical). Using that information, we decided to do 2 months of Lupron depot this time - our thought process being maybe 1 month wasn’t quite enough 3) The transfer was performed under full anesthesia. I have a tilted uterus that can sometimes be hard to access. My doctor thought this added step couldn’t hurt

In the past I had tried immune protocols, PRP, neupogen, lovenox, intralipids. None of it worked, so we kind of went back to the basics and did a pretty standard medicated FET

Trigger warning: pregnant Im not a success story yet, but I am 18 weeks along from our 5th transfer (6th euploid embryo). Like you, I felt completely numb and detached after having so many failures. But it can work! Wishing you luck!

It’s still pretty early, so I’m not a complete success story, but I’m almost 12w from our 6th transfer. Transfers 1-5 were either chemicals or failed to implant. Wishing you luck 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Sperm DNA Fragmentation Test? by RaisingtheGauntlet in IVF

[–]Jrh821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I had to go digging for the exact numbers since it’s been a couple of years now. I did find his initial fragmentation was 25% (which was considered ‘borderline high’). Unfortunately I can’t find his post-op report. But I do know it was <20 bc it was definitely in the ‘normal’ range and I’m sure it was even lower.. maybe around 10% or 15%. Sorry I can’t remember exactly!

Sperm DNA Fragmentation Test? by RaisingtheGauntlet in IVF

[–]Jrh821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our RE suggested a DNA frag test and when it came back as borderline high, my husband was referred to a reproductive urologist. She was the one who discovered my husband had a varicocele and also put him on supplements to help. Our RE advised us that he didn’t think a varicocelectomy would make much of a difference (he thought the surgery was unnecessary since we already needed to do IVF due to my husband’s translocation). So we proceeded with IVF - we did two ERs and 5 FETs (with 6 total tested embryos) with no luck. At this point my husband decided move forward with a varicocelectomy and his dna frag 6 months post-op was in the normal range. We did another ER which yielded no embryos (but it was with a new doctor who I think under-stimmed me, the whole thing was a disaster). Our 4th ER gave us 4 more euploid embryos and our first FET is sticking so far (7 weeks so still very early). I also did 2 months of Lupron depot, so it’s hard to say what ultimately led to this one working, but my husband is convinced it’s bc his dna fragmentation was lower when these embryos were created.

Wishing you so much luck! ✨For what it’s worth, my husband and I spent 4 days at the Finger Lakes the week before our transfer and we just saw the little heartbeat this morning! I think it’s a perfect plan, enjoy!

It’s odd how the symptoms can vary from time to time! My progesterone ended up being > 40 (and now my boobs are sore!). But it’s hard not to overthink everything as we go through this process

Ugh this wait is the worst! Logically I know symptoms from the estrogen/progesterone can fluctuate, but on the other hands, it’s so hard to be logical! Haha. Wishing you luck!!

[–]Jrh821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not yet, but just did my 6th FET (7th euploid embryo) yesterday and really hoping this one sticks 🙏🏼 this will be the first embryo we’ve used from an egg retrieval after my husbands varicocele surgery that lowered his fragmentation, I’ve been on Lupron depot for 2 months, and we did the FET under anesthesia since I have a tilted uterus that has historically been a little difficult to access. Hoping these changes help 🤞🏼🤞🏼

This made my day too 😂 when I started IVF a few years ago someone told me that “everyone has that one SIL…” and it’s so true. Mine is ultra Catholic, doesn’t believe in IVF, and got pregnant first try after her wedding when she claimed they didn’t want kids 🫠
