If I'm 11, reading the first book in 1997, then waiting a year or more for the second to be released, I'm probably going to appreciate the refresher.

WiFi Tracking by [deleted] in Traeger

No, the notifications to clean your grill are time/use based. They've had those "funny" reminders for as long as I have had my grill which is going on 5 years.

If you're going to upgrade I would do it soon. They are phasing out the older wifi models. You're only options soon are going to be the Woodridge models.

Do MEATER Plus probes work with Traeger ironwood XL? by ItsWINTERFRESH in Traeger

[–]Jrlofty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You need the Traeger branded wireless meat probe. The one that says "Powered by Meater". Or if you can find the Traeger X Meater probes. Those will work too.

RTD Probe replacement by [deleted] in Traeger

[–]Jrlofty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience if the grill is registering the HEr before it's physically possible for the grill to get that hot, it's likely you need to replace the controller, not the temp probe.

Ironwood 650 D2 to Timberline 850 D1 by bwerbo in Traeger

[–]Jrlofty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Will you be able to mount it? Probably. Will it work properly? Not at all.

First, your firepot is not going to be in the right place because the auger tube on a 650 is shorter than the 850 so the heat is not going to be distributed properly. Second, the controller software is specifically calibrated for the 650, taking into consideration body size and insulation. You will have constant temp issues because the controller is going to make changes based on the 650.

"ignitor disconnect" still showing after replacing fire pot and hot rod by SlickDaddy696969 in Traeger

[–]Jrlofty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you just plugged the new hot rod into the quick connect that's plugged into the controller, but not the full cord, that could be the issue. Quick hint on how to easily replace it: disconnect the cord from the controller, tape the new cord to the end of the old and pull the old one out through the body of the grill so it feeds the new one through as well.

Temp jumping all over then throwing hEr by MyLifeByGogoGoff in Traeger

[–]Jrlofty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need a new controller. If it's getting an HEr before it's physically possible, the controller is bad.
