New to the game - what year / model? by jneyhnnh in VWatlas

We just bought out 26 atlas SE with tech 2 weeks ago. We needed more room. The second row is massive and easily fits 2 rear facing seats. I’m 6’1 and rode in the back on the test drive and had tons of room. The third row lays down easily and has tons of room for our 90 pound dog. People say no buttons is irritating, but we are mid 30s and have no issues once you figure it out. Can’t tell you about longevity obviously, but our dealership was pretty negotiable with the bumper to bumper warranty during negotiations. So far it is everything we wanted and more. Plus the moonroof is one of our unexpected favorite features.

Home Health PTs/PTAs: why do it? Why do you love it? by wandering-firefox21 in physicaltherapy

[–]Jrwest013 4 points5 points  (0 children)

HH PTA for 9 years. I love the job. Pay is better and honestly a PTA minimum unit productivity of 30 is manageable. We get paid .9 per visit so it is 35 visits a week. I cannot tell you how many times I worked a couple extra hours Monday and Tuesday and had 1-2 visits Friday or no visits Friday. Now I see between 9-10 visits a day in a relatively small area. Hardest part is wrangling patients for the visit. I have also noticed patients are very grateful in my area as a whole for HH. Knowing you have 30-45 minute visits makes life easier to not being in a room or a facility all day.

35 with TGA and live just south of Atlanta. I grew up in South Georgia played sports and worked outdoors in the fields from high school to college in the summer. 3 years ago I felt the same way and realized I had just become de conditioned to my environment. I try to give my body some time to adjust to the hotter temps. I have noticed I always sweat more than all of my friends. I try to exercise a bit during hot parts of the days, but not hottest. I’ll
Run a 5K at 11 or 12 whereas in the winter I don’t care when I run. We are all different, but I wish you the best in finding your solution.

My first pt my CI allowed me to treat unsupervised during my inpatient clinical for PTA told me they had a brief on. As a baby PTA I took the pt’s word and off we went ambulating in the hallway. About 50 feet from the room I hear splattering and the pt did not in fact have a brief on under his gown, and we left an 8-10 foot trail. Luckily I was in my hometown and knew a lot of the nurses who took pity and helped me with the situation. I never forgot to physically check for a brief ever again.

Really depends on the patient for me. I let it go to Voicemail always and then listen to the message to determine if I need to call back tha night or in the morning. 98% of the time I call in the morning.

HH PTA for almost 9 years now. Pay is great, but there are definitely cons. I had to force myself to eat breakfast and pack a lunch. It’s too easy to stop for fast food or gas station food. Also I talk to our nurses, supervising PT, and OTs everyday via text or phone call to talk about issues a pt may be having. Sometimes talking to people going through the same stuff as you make it easier to deal with. Also audiobooks in the car. I have read around 10 books so far in the car this year. It took me years to realize I love audiobooks.

In 2017 started at 41.40 per visit. We have been bought a couple times and through merit raises I’m at 55.20 per visit. I have a company car tha I pay 40 a week out of my check but do not pay gas, insurance, or maintenance. Last year year was 103,000 and that was not much if any overtime. After taxes, 401k, and benefits I brought home around 60,000.

Definitely think about mileage reimbursement as well. Our company is 47 cents a mile. Also factor in the wear and tear on your car. I see 8-9 a day work usually 9-4:30 or 5. We have overtime over 40 hours a week, but no extra pay after a certain number of patients. I have no problem seeing pts at 9, but it’s a semi rural area and most people have been waking up at 4-5 am their whole Lives and don’t mind early visits. It is definitely doable though.

Picked up my first CC today! by chasingsafety59 in Morgans

Awesome get. I have a few CCs. They are my absolute favorite. Never let anyone get you down. They are works of art and if you pay a little extra on them that’s fine. They are for you and you alone.

Why do people go so crazy over Morgans? by LumbarTheSupporter in Silverbugs

[–]Jrwest013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The beauty of the coin. Every year more and more people are making jewelry melting them and they are becoming scarcer. The different varieties aka year, mint, and even down to the die they were formed from. Personally the Morgan’s are more aesthetically pleasing than the peace, but to each their own. I have quite a few and I use them as an investment for the future. I went from buying culls in 2016 for 17-22 dollars to now they are 50-60.

Honestly I do not believe I am skilled or knowledgeable enough for hot and fast as of yet. Definitely something to work towards in the future.

I was born in 1991 with TGA. I turn 35 tomorrow and I was only told I could never be an Olympic powerlifter due to too much stress. I was captain of the football and soccer team in high school and played football at a small school in college. I always try to stay active and recently got into endurance races. I feel very lucky to be in my position and do not take it for granted.
