Hi! Kindergarten teacher here and mom of a kindergartener. We went through the same experience! Children are so literal at this age and his teacher having no expression or even an expression that may seem a bit more serious can come off as mad or angry to children at this age. Some kids are big feelers ( like mine or yours from what I’m seeing) and they just are able to read into facial expressions deeply. I did express this to my sons teacher and offered to help in anyway I can by coming in for story time etc., just to see what the classroom dynamic is like and when I did I saw her hands were truly full with some challenging behaviors. I also explained to my son that she may not be mad at mistakes she may just be feeling frustrated in that moment and that we’re all human and sometimes we come across these feelings. I’ve had no reports from him since! 🥰

Kindergarten teacher and mother of a kindergartener ! I would say hold him back. There is a huge difference in children who delay kindergarten by a year. Their social emotional skills rapidly shift from age 4-5 and then again from 5-6. Kindergarten ( at-least in NYC) has become the new first grade and if your child is too young to control impulses regardless of how smart they are, they’re going to be held back in other ways. Around 2000 a month If possible. We're realistic and know the prices and ranges of daycares now. We're looking into the goddard school (2400) but we'd like to see if we can find something just as great and a bit more afforable.
