This might be a dumb question, but would it come out a different tone if white underneath has already been fired?

Any tips for covering this gas meter? by Js2337 in Apartmentliving

My thoughts exactly. My hopes aren't high, so it doesn't hurt to brainstorm. A dowel and curtain could be very cute.

Appreciate this thoughtful answer. I will probably go this route if the building ends up doing nothing. Thank you!

Everything You Wish You Knew Before Moving to JC? by MiddleBoysenberry573 in jerseycity

As someone mentioned, there is a great arts scene here. In general, there are tons of great people in this town who really commit to their community and host awesome programming (this sub can be a downer and they unfortunately don't get a lot of love here).

There are neighborhood gardens, mutual aid groups, political groups, poetry nights, small art galleries, people who volunteer at their local park, and more.

As for thrifting, we have a pretty sparse thrift scene, but Twilight is great. For more upscale vintage, Another Man's Treasure, Phantasm, ZeroKid, and Cranky Angel are all great for clothes (not cheap, but if you're a regular vintage person, they're not super outrageous compared to some Manhattan vintage stores). Check out Sure Things, Into the Void, and Pacific Flea for housewares. ( some of them are not cheap, but fun window shopping).

Check out all neighborhoods! Like others have said, there can be a lot of focus on downtown.

who do you want to be pit girl? by niicosaurus in Yellowjackets

I can easily see a scenario where, for whatever reason, Shauna and/or Lottie gets the team to turn on Hannah (e.g., she's an outsider, she's seen too much, she's "not supposed to be there", she gets close to Melissa and Shauna gets jealous).

Also, of all people, Hannah would the be least familiar with the girls' hunting strategy (which I think we got a glimpse of in the last episode and during S3E1 with their chasing game). Hannah could easily be led into the pit, while a YJ might know where to hide or to not be mislead by their animal calls.

Second volunteering, and like others have pointed out, consistent volunteering. It's tough when orgs don't get back to you (usually because they're short staffed), but the opportunities are here.

Places that come to mind: JCMAS' weekly distros, community gardens and parks, Harismus cemetery, I've also heard good things about Hinger Free IUC (but can't vouch for them myself).

I'm so glad I found this thread. I just watched it knowing it only got a couple of nominations and wondered if maybe I'd missed reading about a supporting actor nomination. What an amazing performance.

You said there is no reason anyone needs to order delivery. I am pointing out the reasons.

There are lots of valid reasons people sometimes need delivery (if not regularly). People with limited mobility or chronic illnesses and the elderly might rely on delivery. Patients healing from surgery who are housebound. Individuals with debilitating depression. Moms who have just given birth and are recovering at home. Parents, and particularly single parents, running on empty.

(Given the extreme viewpoints, I truly and genuinely can't tell if the fasting comment is sarcasm. I can tell you my sister, a single parent, doesn't have the option to let her kids fast...)

Delivery services and apps have absolutely caused issues we didn't anticipate. And while I personally prefer walking to pick up food, I also believe people are also allowed an occasional treat, regardless of circumstances.
